Past Updates:
23 December 2003 Last update of this year!!! Heads up for those of you don't know, I'm shutting the site down from the 27th until launch date (January 3rd 2004) so Miss Special and I can make the final changes. Some cool stuff is going to be added to the site not just over the 27th-3rd period, but throughout next year I'll be adding new features. Since there's been more of a request and interest in them, the Fan Art Awards will take place sometime next year. I'll try and schedule them when American schools have a holiday break so most of you will have more time on your hands. :) ----------------------- Skyfire sent in two episode reviews, but I am going to put them up next update along with some more episode reviews I'm working on. Some art nominations were sent in, and while the art Awards won't take place for a while, you can still nominate until we have ALL decided on a hood date for next year. The last winner for the Pictures and Captions competition of 2003 is Hacker. Well done! No new poll this update. Results for previous poll: 'Which Maximal would look best as Santa's Elf?' 64% of the votes went to Rattrap, 18% to Rhinox and 9% to Silverbolt and the last 9% to Airazor. New Stuff: Lots of cool art by Sinead this update! Check it out! Another adorable chibi by Nurannoniel is up in her section. Solar Blaze (HDW) has also sent in a chibi, another cute Dinobot takes the place of the old one on her chibi page. Miss Special sent in the next part of the intriguing 'Doomcat Chronicles'. Sinead has sent in the next fic in the 'Living in Death' series. Oh and, because I won't be updating on Christmas, here's an early MERRY CHRISTMAS! from me! :)
13 December 2003 Maybe some of you will have noticed that I didn't put up the poll for the Fan Art Awards on Wednesday. That's because I'm calling it off. There's not been one art nomination in over two months. Two categories only have one nomination each. I've spent hours and hours trying to get up all the backlogged art so that those artists stood a chance. I mean, come on people! There are 257 art pieces and web graphics and no one can send in at least one nomination? I'm tired of begging everyone. I'm not a big artist at this site, this is YOUR awards, and unless someone shows more interest in it than me, I'm just not wasting my time on it. Sorry to sound so miserable, but I'm disappointed. ----------------------- We received no more captions this past week for the Pictures and Captions competition. So you can vote now at the Pictures and Captions page. There's a new poll at the Beast Wars express page. Results for previous poll: 'Which Predacon would look best in a santa suit?' 79% of the votes went to Megatron, 14% went to Rampage and 7% to Inferno. New Stuff: Sinead has sent in another art piece, which can be viewed here. She also made a lovely Chritsmas card for all of us, and it's up on its own special page here. A coloured version of Skyfire's "Dinobot as a Human" drawing can be seen here. I got bored and made a Tigerhawk graphic, which is located here. Miss Special sent in the next part of the Evil Eye series. Sinead has sent in the next fic in the 'Living in Death' series, as well as 4 more chapters to Taiyoo Soshite Tsuki. - I'm leaving on Monday the 15th and will be gone for a week, so the next update will be on Monday the 22nd.
6 December 2003 Yay! Only 18 days before Christmas Eve! Ta da! Well, layout design three won by a long shot. Guess we'll be sticking with the dark theme for next year, then. Naturally, there will be lots of exciting new changes OTHER than the layout as well. So be happy!! ----------------------- One caption has been added to the Pictures and Captions competition. This is your last week to send in caps! There's a new poll at the Beast Wars express page. Results for previous poll: Design 1 got 18% of the votes, Design 2 as is got 9%, Design 2 with another colour got 9% and Design 3 won with 64%. Oh and since you only have a few days left, please please please send in art nominations! It's not a lot of effort to page through a bit of art and send an email with your favourites, but it was a huge effort for me last weekend where I spent hours and hours uploading all that art at once so those artists would have a chance for their art to be nominated. And you know what? There wasn't a single art nomination this past week, after all that. :(
New Stuff: The first in Sinead's new series is up this update. Lady Venom sent in part 5 of her hilarious fic "Tests, Quizzes, Robots and Killers Oh My!" Miss Special has sent in part 9 of the Chronicles of the Doomcat. There's a new web graphic by Lady Scale in her web graphics section. There are lots of sketches from her fic "Learning to Walk Again", as well as a nifty shirt design with DB by Sinead. Skyfire's sent in two cool art pieces. Depth Charge, and what he imagines Dinobot to look like as a human. Miss Special has sent in a funky pic of her characters from the Doomcat Chronicles playing in her backyard!
29 November 2003 Eeeeeeeeeeeee! ::jumps for joy::: :::does a cartwheel:::: :::falls::: :::gets back up and types::::: Important Good News!!! We've got the site now, and guess what?! I've already designed three different new layouts for next year, for y'all to choose! Yup! I've applied each design to what will be the main page next year. PLEASE, everybody go have a looksee at this page. Links to all three layouts will be there. After you've seen them, click back to that page and vote! Please note that none of the links will be working on the 3 layouts, because the idea is to give you a 'look' at what the layout will be and how it'll be applied to a page. The poll's gonna be up for one week, so I can start working on applying the most popular layout to all the pages. ----------------------- There's a new Character of the Month for December...yeah I know it's two days early, but the calendar doesn't always work in favour of updates. And the poll didn't work properly either, so I just chose BA since I already had her character of the month bio done. Some captions have been added for the Pictures and Captions competition. We need more than what's currently up there, so be sure to send in your caps soon, if you want to enter. There is no poll at the Beast Wars Express page, as it's being used for the layout choices. Lord Skyfire has sent in a fic as well! Now for what you've alllllll been waiting for. The art! Here's all the art that's been backlogged including all the art from the 12 October update that failed to work (stupid topcities...:::mumble grumble::::): 3 art pieces by Lady Scale is up in her FV art section. Two art pieces by Lady Venom is up in her section. Two art pieces by Sinead are also up this update. The three artworks by Darkfire are now working in her section. Nurann's sent in a bigger, better version of her Chibi Optimus. The links to Skyfire's coloured Rhinox and Rhinox and Ima drawings are working. All of Starath's art is now working. Miss Special's art piece "Destroyer Angel and Spirit Share a Quiet Moment" is now working. Hacker has sent in a pic as well. I've created a War Art page in my art section, as now I've added another line drawing of a soldier, and added coloured versions of my first two.

Today, according to the Fan Art Awards date, was supposed to be the deadline for Art nominations. ::cough:: Well, blame me for this. I forgot to give everyone the heads up! The fact is, I'm going on holiday this December from roughly the 13th til the 21st. Yeah... so that means I have no choice but to change the dates again. This is good news for everyone anyway, because this weekend I'm putting up all the stored artwork, so now artists will have more of their art up and I'm giving everyone more time to nominate.
So the dates have changed from:
Nominating began 28th June, ends 26th November. Voting takes place between 26th November and ends 13th December. Awards takes place 20th December 2003.

Exams begin on Monday for me and I'll be writing every day (except weekends, and then I will be studying) for the next three weeks. I write one or two exams ranging from 2-6 hours per day (for the first 2 weeks), so I won't have time to spend on the Internet. However, my third week ends on Wednesday the 26th November. Then I start my nice long holiday. :) 'Til then, only small, Friday updates will happen. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Good news: It's exactly 2 months 'til Christmas! Not so good news: It's less than 3 weeks 'til my end-of-year exams. :::bites nails nervously::: Because I need to focus on my studies and discipline myself, it means I can't be on the Internet all Saturday (too distracting) so from next week onwards I'm going to update Friday nights (my time) so send in your goodies before Friday! Good news! We have enough money for the site! All $60! Yay! So hopefully in a month's time all the art that was meant to be put up will be up. Keep sending your art so I can store it so long.

I've decided to give you a link to what last update's page would have looked like because some of the stuff I put up did work and in the case of the thumbnails, you can just right click them, click hyperlink properties and type in the direct link in another window and it should work. Announcement:
Sapphire's Beast Wars Website is fast running out of space. I need $60 to buy more webspace and so far we have $40 either on the way or there in the account already. Until I get that extra $20, I'm afraid I just have no more room at this account to put up artwork and graphics. I've tried linking to other accounts but that won't work, so until I purchase the site's new home and the 400 megs extra space that comes with it, there will be no more art updates. I'll upload fics and polls and competitions as normal. Please, still send me your art so I can keep it in a safe folder and put it all up when the time is right. :)
As a result of this, the Fan Art Awards will be moved forward to cater for the new art that'll come with the new site. Feel free to nominate anyway. ________

The Fan Fiction Awards have been post-phoned until the 20th of September. The reason for this is, by today, I still had not received enough votes for the awards to work. That reflects that there was not sufficient time for the voters to read enough fics and therefore cast votes in certain categories which lack votes altogether. I am posting a message later today containing all the categories that need votes or have 3 or 4-way ties. This will give everyone more time and hopefully more people can make it on the 20th.

I am sure most of you would have heard about that killer virus/worm thing out on the Internet, causing havoc on millions of computers. It has been deemed the worst one yet and it is spreading itself through emails. I did not update on Saturday because I decided it was too risky to go online, and today I installed the latest version of Norton Antivirus available to me. However, I am not opening any emails with text attachments sent to me recently, just to be on the safe side. So, for today's update, only files (with attachments) I got up until Wednesday will be uploaded. I'm sorry, but I don't want to risk opening them just yet. The problem with this virus is, that you may have it without even knowing so and it automatically sends itself to everyone on your address list. The stuff that is not up today will probably be up next weekend, when I have downloaded some security patches and the latest firewalls to protect myself from the virus. Also, rather not risk me getting it, and sending it to all of you unknowingly!

Yesterday was National Women's Day in South Africa and a public holiday to celebrate women. So I shopped and took a rest.

Lots of new stuff this update!

Pictures and Captions competition
with an image submitted by Lady Scale. I'm trying it out this
time.
Three animation odds, two of them are new (one has a picture) and there's an image for an older one. I found one but you have Lady Scale to thank for the two with images! Click here to see them.
Images of the toys of TM Rattrap, Optimus (season 1 and TM), Megatron, Inferno, Cheetor, Dinobot and Depth Charge are up in the Toy Reviews section, along with three new reviews by Lord Skyfire.
Four episode reviews have been added! Two by me, one by Pacerpaw and one by Kacheetah. At the bottom of the episodes 'Go with the Flow' and 'The Agenda Part 3', you can spot some new images from those eps, taken with my dad's digital camera-phone. They're small and the quality's not great, but they belong to us! Mua ha ha!
There are some fan art and fan fic nominations. Don't forget that voting starts 15th August. It's only fair that if you want to vote for a fan fic in a particular category, you've read the other fics nominated in that same category, otherwise you're not giving the others a chance and maybe (if you read them) you'll think they are better than your original choice. So basically, if you want to vote fairly, start reading. :)

Having read just about all of the 130+ fics on this site, I've picked up a fair share of errors repeated in fics. Therefore, I've gone and updated my 'Writing Tips' page with some of these common mistakes. Please, before you send in a fic, even before you write your next one, if you know your grammar and spelling isn't that hot, do yourself (and your editor and readers) a favour and check out this list. I did it for those of you who battle a bit with spelling and such. You know who you are!!

If you have pics that you'd like to see captioned, send them in. :::grumbles irritably:: Stupid 'Amazing Polls'. Their service stinks! I'm aware now (albeit a bit on the late side) that the poll for the Pictures and Captions competition doesn't work. So, I've scrapped it and put in its place a bravenet.com poll, since those are more reliable. ::sigh:: Sorry to make you all vote again, but you'll have to go to the Beast Wars Express page to re-cast your vote. (That's the last time I use 'Amazing Polls' again. I'll stick to bravenet, even though their last one mysteriously didn't show up on the Beast Wars Express page....)

Fan Fic Challenge: Even though there have been lots of fic noms, there's been an obvious absence of nominations in the following categories: Best Romance, Most Frightening, Most Surprising, Most Gripping Suspense-Thriller. This
is probably because not enough fics fall into these categories.
So here's a challenge to all you writers out there! Who can
write the most romantic, or scariest, or gasp-inspiring or suspenseful
fic of them all? I challenge all you writers to write a fic/fics
in any of the above categories.
