Stargate Continuum

Unread post by Jagna »

(I hope I spelled that correctly)

First off, and this might upset a few ppl........did anyone else know that Don S. Davis, our beloved General George Hammond of Stargate SG-1......died?!

My sister told me about it yesterday. She was looking up Stargate on imdb and read it under the newest Stargate 'movie' info! It actually brought a tear to my eye, he seemed like such a nice fella. And it's strange to take in, as only last week I saw him in an episode of NCIS.

Sorry, that was depressing. But I just can't believe it.

Anyway, officially, 'Stargate Continuum' is 2nd of two movies set after the last episode of Stargate SG-1. I haven't seen it yet (so SH!), but apparently it was a big let-down. I mean, no Jack? From that, I can just guess...

Anyway, these two movies (one of which I have, but didn't watch bcoz it focused on the bloomin' Orai DX) are said to be a more reassuring ending to the series. Especially Continuum. I think it's about something like going back to time to prevent someone evil from stopping the Stargate program ever existing! It has Jack in it! Yay! And it is also the last project Don S. Davis worked on before he had a heart attack. He died shortly after filming. *Is crying real tears now*

Reviews have said it's a good (better, at least) send-off. Now my sister and I are going to watch the whole damn series from where we left off, 'cause we don't actually know what happened with the Orai. But I was ok with that, because I really didn't like the whole Orai continuity. And Cameron Mitchell is alright, but really, what's Stargate without good ol' Jack O'Neill?

If you have or haven't seen it/them, no spoilers, please! But any SG fan out there (I KNOW you are! Hehe) please give me your thoughts. I would elaborate (*on that? Is she crazy?*) but it's late and I've got a bust day/week ahead of me. Friend is staying for a week, and we've got a play/movie planned for every day. :D Toodles!

P.s. RIP Don S. Davis

*ahem*

Fellow fan here lol. I didn't know about Don. That is really sad to hear.

I've seen the first film, Stargate: The Arc of Truth, which pretty much is just a double sized episode to finish the series off. It's not too bad, but it wasn't anything spectacular either, and seemed to end a bit suddenly to me.

I'm looking forward to the second film, which is a different story, and revolves around good 'ol Baal. Looks interesting, and apparently characters that just sort of got dropped or forgotten over the past few seasons may make reapperances in it. And yay! Jack is back.

I've heard that they intend on making more movies, and just doing these to keep the franchise moving along. I hope this is true.

It's sad, isn't it? I really wanted to meet him because I heard nothing but great things about him, and he was the best General on SG-1. :( He had passed away from a massive heart attack on Sunday morning, June 29, so I had heard about it from Garry on Monday night, June 30. Very, very sad. But it was really great to see him in Continuum, and I think about him every time I watch SG-1 or Atlantis (how can't you?).

*hugs Jagna* :(

I thought the series finale episode was bitterly awful, so I was really looking forward to the two movies Ark of Truth and Continuum, hoping they'd be a lot better. I thought Ark of Truth was great and really wrapped up some things nicely; muuuuch better than the series finale episode. I just watched Continuum and thought it was all right. It was great to see Hammond and Jack but other than that, it was like a longer episode (but well done directing and editting wise!) that didn't really have much to it except for Ba'al being the last of the system lords and messing around with the past by time jumping. Don't get me wrong, Ba'al is my favorite bad guy on there, but I think Ark of Truth was more satisfying to me. Continuum almost felt like they're just trying to drag on the series through DVD movies now.
Now my sister and I are going to watch the whole damn series from where we left off, 'cause we don't actually know what happened with the Orai.
Good! ^_^ Boo on the Ori! I hate those guys. XD The Replicators were cooler than them.

Seriously, there should be a whole 'nother forum on here for the swarm of Stargate fan! HaHAA! Ahem..yes...

Both of them? Luckyyyyyy. I'll be getting Continuum when I get back to Kuwait. Exchange rate at the moment means it's ever-so-slightly cheaper. *ahemripoffartistscough*

Stargate fans, UNITE!

I've probably asked this before (or someone else has) but I've forgotten: do they plan to make more Stargate movies? If so, where do I sign up?
