I was driving home today from work, listening to the radio, when I heard that Heath Ledger was found dead. Some of you probably know that he's the Joker in the next Batman movie, The Dark Knight. And for any who have seen the trailer, I think it absolutely looks awesome, and Ledger looks like he has done a spectacular job with the crazy character. It will be really odd to watch that movie and know that he has passed away. And it's a shame. Here is a news article for anyone interested:

Heath Ledger

It surprises me to hear about a possible drug overdose. I thought he was an actor above that stuff. Surely there are better things to do and better ways to spend money than wasting it all on drugs. It's sad. He was only four years older than me. :?

It's incredibly sad. He was a talented actor who seemed like he really knew what he wanted.

:(

Kind of makes Dark Knight bittersweet, as I think his performance as the Joker shall be masterful.

Yeah, I jumped in the car this morning with the boys to head to site and one of them said, "so that's the end of Heath then ay" and I'm sitting there going "wha?" "Apparently Heather Ledger was found dead this morning."

Crazy. I agree with you there OOP that Heath seemed to carry the Joker character quite well, along with a number of other impressive roles.

As for the drug thing, his family has said that it was an accident and not drug related so he may not necessarily have died of an overdose. It is quite sad and also sad that everyone jumps to drugs as the first possible cause of them dying if they're famous. I suppose experimentation is part of the sterotype and I know a bunch of actors who are habitual, but not addictive users, but that doesn't mean everyone dances down the same path. Ultimately, he will be remembered being a young successful actor by a whole lot of people around the world. I think that is a great epitaph for anyone to achieve. So long Heath, we'll miss you mate.
It's ok sir. I'll be fine...

Just listen to your commander, bonebrain!

I couldn't believe it... It was shocking...

We'll have to see his last appearances, in "I'm not there" as (one of the multiple) Bob Dylan and in "The Dark Knight". How sad was this, the young man had a very promising career.

Rest in peace...

His performance as the Joker did look masterful in the trailer.

It is quite sad and also sad that everyone jumps to drugs as the first possible cause of them dying if they're famous.
I assumed it was the illegal kind because reporters and the like weren't specific until later on at night when I watched the news at 11. When he was found in the apartment in NY, they said he still alive but suffering cardiac arrest, and then died shortly after. Although the autopsy today was inconclusive, it's likely that it was an accidental overdose of anti-anxiety and sleeping pills. Both of which he was taking because he couldn't sleep at all (even after taking two Ambien pills) and had a lot of anxiety. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of that was related to his breakup with his fiancé. So, fortunately, he probably wasn't involved with the illegal kind of drugs at all. But he left behind a two year old daughter, so that's really sad. He looked like a nice guy and he was very talented in acting. It just seems like it was something that wasn't supposed to happen.

I like A Knight's Tale. That's a fun movie. I think that's probably the first one I saw with Ledger. He was great in the Patriot as well.

I absolutely love Jack Nicholson's Joker; he fit it so well way back when. But you can't really compare his to Ledger's because the new Batman movies are just so much darker. Both Jack's and Heath's Jokers will be the best, though. 8) I must admit when I first heard about Ledger taking the new Joker role, I was really skeptical and thought the "pretty boy" wouldn't be able to pull it off. But when I saw the trailer a couple months ago, I was sadly mistaken. He's going to be really good in this movie. He looks creepy and insane.

I can't believe it. I watched "10 Things I Hate About You" only the day before. Heath was just so...young. :(

The sad thing is that his best role to date is supposed to be the Joker. He had so much potential and such an aspiring career but he let it run him to the ground. I feel so sorry for his family and especially his daughter; it looked like Heath valued his family life above all else.
