)for AS Drama, we have JUST started a new play after about 4 weeks of working on another one (!!!!>.<!!!!) and we changed ot coz we weren;t ass passionate as we were in the beginning. so now we have 3 weeks left (cold slaggit!) to work out what we r doing. we will be fine acting-wise, we aree doing an adaptation by seamus heaney of 'antigone' called burial at thebes (two of my group are indian and they say bUried...not exactly RP english, darling!), and the only thing we may need to worry about it costume and set
to those that dont know antigone...FIND OUT!! its a dam good play, if you an understand the orig translation. modern adaptations are so muc more accessible (funnily enough, thts wht we have to write about! *cringes*)
basically, a girl antigone wants to bury her dead and dishonoured brother whose corpse has been left for the dogs and bird on public display by her uncle creon (im playing creon btw, because APPARENTLY, im the only one in our group (of 5 girls) who is convincing as a guy and can pull off playing a man!
lol see> i have talent!)...her sister ismene is against the idea, and so antigone hates her for it. a guard tells king creon tht someone has buried the body...blablabla...brings in anigone after a long and drunken rant..(silver? lol 
)...she is to be left in a cave tht will be sealed and left to starve basically...his son haemon is antigone's fionce tries to reason with his father...dosnt work...a soothsayer tirenides (SP???) tells creon tht bad things will happen to his family if he dosnt let her go and allow her to bury her brother...he goes to the cave to find tht she has hanged herself and haemon stabs himself after letting his father know how much he hates him for it...creons wofe ills herself...creon left to wollow in conequences of own pride...i hope tht clears it up...now, back to why im posting this...(Heh)
i have a vague idea of wha kind of costume we want (the chorus tht ar present in ALL/most greek tragedies will have some dort of silver flowy jackets on with trousers) thing is,all of us play at least two character (i play creon and chorus member no 3) so we need something EITHER: easy to take off/put on OR: something reversable...we want it in a semi-modern type of fashion, even though we dont know when we want it set time-wise >.<

anysuggestons? we are thinking of a red dress for antigone to emphasise her passion and strength of will...creon....purple???? what is more regal? not red, coz thts for antigone
we had an idea of the soothsayer having dangly bits like dreamcatchers or dead rats or somthing hanging off a big baggy jacket...other than tht we are STUMPED!!!
any ideas would be most wecome...sorry if i should have put it in the rant section, but this is asking for advice wih a LITTLE ranting in it...heh *scratches head*
...preferably by end of next monday, we have a 5-day weekend coming up for national day and i have a feeling our teacher will nag us for costume and set ideas...
please....i may have done IGCSE textiles but there is only SO mch i can do!
