Maybe it was indeed how the character was written, but I felt more drawn to Cheadle's performance in the second one. His serious, no-nonsense behavior was an awesome contrast to Stark's personality. I guess it's because of the personality difference that I believe Don Cheadle did a little bit better. I probably should just say that I liked Rhodey as a character more in the second film lol.

Btw, out of curiosity, who did you guys like better as Rhodes: Terrence Howard or Don Cheadle?
Terrence Howard. I felt more "connected" to him, or his acting.
I liked Terrence Howard's seemingly easy going nature in the first movie, but I don't know how easily that would work with the second movie since Rhodes is written noticeably more assertive. Maybe they would have written him differently if Howard was still around, maybe not.
I think it could have worked. I remember the way he looked at the other iron man suit and you could tell he just wanted to jump in it and kick some butt. In any case, Don did a nice job, so I wasn't terribly upset about it.

I think the first film was better than the second. The sequel just kind of seemed to be a repeat of the first to me. Some guy gets POed at Stark, takes his technology and makes his own awesome weapon, they duke it out trying to kill one another and that was it. There wasn't much story to it. I still enjoyed the action and special effects, don't get me wrong, and there were some really neat parts like the Indy cars and pretty much everything wtih Whiplash, but I was left a little disappointed. Maybe I went into it with my exptectations too high. It was a fun movie, at least. RDJ's performances are consistant, and I think he's perfect for Tony Stark.
"Well, that's just prime!"

lol well knowing the little potential of sequels to action films, I came into the midnight showing with really low expectations. High expectations for the action (which didn't fail), but zero expectations with a follow-up storyline. Iron Man doesn't really have too many villains with depth. I doubt they'll use the Mandarin in such a hi-tech universe, so I really had no idea what to expect.
