Has anyone else seen this yet? I saw it last night and thought it was pretty good. It's a long movie but the time passes by pretty quickly when you're so absorbed into it.

If you can, try to see it in 3D! It won't make a huge difference (at least imo) but it helps optimize your enjoyment for an extra $3.

I saw it on the opening night, in 3D. It is indeed a fairly good movie, although perhaps a little bit overdone in some aspects. Still a very beautiful adventure to watch. A little long as well, but if you're going to spend 13 dollars for a movie ticket (at the Regal theater locally here, sadly the IMAX experience there was filled up half a day in advance) you kind of expect quality for your bucks.

The local paper rated it only 1 1/2 stars. I'm thinking it's the usual pattern though, where critics rate it horribly and everyone else thinks it's great?

I'm trying to get my family to go either tonight or on Tuesday.

If you want to see what every critic thinks, then try checking out rottentomatoes.com for all movie ratings from both critics and audiences. Avatar seemed to pull a consistent ~80-some percentile but I'd definitely give it a 9/10.

I saw it in 3D and loved it. Visually it's an incredibly beautiful movie. Unfortunately, the closest IMAX theater to me is like two hours away, but at least the projection is DLP with the theater I go to. I highly recommend seeing it in 3D, though. Fantastic movie. ^^

Saw it in 3D on opening night. It was a very good movie and quite the visual candy. I have to admit, the story's been done to death, but even Cameron admited to that, so it really was no surprise. lol
