Botcon 09

Unread post by SilverfromOZ »

Well, I know its stupidly early and so forth, but just throwing this out there. How many people are seriously considering going to Botcon? How bout those who will be there with bells on? Or perhaps those who dream of going but dont think they'll make it?

Personally, I am very psyched about it. I will try my all to get there because I want to be a part of history once again. Last time, it was the biggest Botcon ever and we got to experience so many awesome things #cough cough# Stan Bush #cough cough# I don't know what my life will be like at the time of BC, however I am of the mindset that even if I need to fly to US and A for half a week and fly back I'd be up for it. Preferrably would be the road trip idea which was conjured up by Crab but we'll see how things pan out.

Mental note: bring less clothes and maybe I'll have enough room to stuff all my action figures in a single bad..... naaah probably not
It's ok sir. I'll be fine...

To elaborate on the Road Trip idea, it was very simple.

Rent out an RV/mobile home, drive cross-country to pick everyone up, drive to BotCon, then drop everyone off back home.

Gas would be killer (now at $4 a gallon)... But if enough of us go, it should work out well. :D

I'm totally going to Botcon '09. I missed out on '08, and it made me a sad Crab. Though I hope it's in a nice place again, like Rhode Island... Man, that place rocked. *_*

Well, I'd consider Botcon '09, but only if they put it in the Midwest so I didn't have to travel far. :? I recently converted a friend to TF-dom, though, and I want to get her to a Botcon sooner than later. xD

However, due to Real Life Situations, I'm looking at eventually buying my car, moving out and finishing my Bachelor's Degree within the next six months or so. =\ I'm going to be hurting bad for money.

I'd totally be up for a Group Road Trip cuz I don't think I could handle the costs/insanity of traveling alone again. But I wants to see you guys again!!! D:

If BotCon is anywhere close enough to the MidWest for me to be able to go, I would be revved to do so. :D I've never been to any kind of convention before...

I would love to go to Botcon '09, but it's not practical. I'd only have just graduated from high school by then.

Oh, I wish. I know what with Transformers 2 coming out that it will be huge, but I don't think there's any chance I'll be able to go.
I understand... you are, after all, a predacon.

Odds are it'll be in June again, right? Or whatever the movie release date is? But slag yes, I'm going! By that point, I'll be able to give acupressure sessions in the hallway for swag money...
And I won't be dumb enough to skip out on the movie and primus package deals this time!

If it's going to be around the movie date, I'll prolly go. ... If I can afford going, that is. I really loved going to the '07 con, and yes, Crab and Silver, that was one HECK of a time. As in the manner of I could have died a very happy girl with my only regret that of not being married. I do not lie. XD

BUT!!!

*grins*

If we happen to all go ... we SO have to do a karaoke night or something. Even if it's us just standing in some poor atrium of some poor hotel belting out songs until we're hoarse ... leaving us sadly voiceless for screaming out random "I love you!!!1!!!!111!!!"s at the movie screening ... ohyeah. We have to have a shindig of that kind. Totally. XD

I'm almost certain to be going again, even if it's on the other side of the U.S., as I'll be making considerably more money starting this fall compared to what I've been making.

Well Sinead... funny you should say that about the karaoke thing. I was having a bit of a mad plan where we obtain a LCD tv somewhere along the way and someone brings their game console and a copy of Rock Band and we could actually set it up where everyone will be lining up for the convention boxes and we can rock out!...... not that I've been thinking alot about it of course
DIBS ON DRUMS!!!! :D

For the RV concept, I'm thinking that having me touch down in LA or San Fran (assuming that the convention is in in RI which as Crab said was tre awesomeo!) and hiring an RV then as people join the fray, they contribute to the daily rate:

e.g. say for the first day or two I'm paying $200/day

person number 1 joins so then its $100/day each

person number 2 joins and its $66/day each

so when we get about 6-7 people in it, we're only paying around $35/day each which is great for decent, cheap, mobile accommodation.

Then as people are dropped off, the daily rates are again split between who's left until there's just little ol me returning this monstrosity back to its home in the west before jumping on a plane and flying back to ol Sydneytown.

Again, I will stress the fact that I'm unsure what my life will be like at the time, however if I am unable to do the road trippy stuff, I leave this info out there for anyone else to take and use as material to create a BWint shenanigans trip.

Also, we need a video camera to document said shenanigans and we can make a video of crazy antics :D

Now I'm a big fan of the awesome hotel rooms and will definitely move into one of them for the big event. Of course we'll have to find a place to keep the RV and I've got no problem doing that and if people don't want to do the hotel thing, they can use the vehicle as the base of operations. But for me, its hotels all the way. Crab, Razor, Baron, coffeegod? Up for another weekend of action figure hedonism?
It's ok sir. I'll be fine...

Y'know, I just realized something.

If some of us were to bring things like air mattresses and sleeping bags, we could set 'em up in the RV, and boom! Like, 10 people could sleep fairly comfortably in it. Plus, it'd save ALOT of money for Hotel room prices, and more for the Dealer's Room. Plus we all know each other, so we wouldn't be rooming with crazy people.

Not that any of you are sane... xD

But hey. Worst case, we do what we did in '07. Which was awesome in itself.

P.S: On Rock Band, I am Lead Guitar. :O Period. My shreddin' and solos are awe-inspiring.

I'll probably opt for a hotel room. Y'know. Cause of you nasty, ew, guys and all ... XD Naw, seriously, you were some of the cleanest and best-smelling guys at the convention, save for the actors! I just like hotel rooms, is all. I guess. 9.9

Anywhos. As long as I know the song, I call lead female vocalist!

I definintely plan on attending next year, and I hope it'll be just as great as '07 was. ^_^

I've heard talk that it might be held in Pennsylvania for a couple reasons. One, they filmed the opened scene here along with "Sam's" college scenes. And two, the BC has never been in PA. I'm skeptical, though, because they've had the BC over here on or near the east coast for two years in a row now (Rhode Island and Ohio). They're also filming the movie in New Mexico, New Jersey and Arizona; three other states that haven't hosted a BC yet. And there's also the chance that they just pick a random location. For me it'd be nice if they had it in PA so for once I wouldn't have to travel far and spend so much money on that alone. ...Especially if the gas prices don't stop rising... :x

Anywho, it'd be great to meet some of you again! ^_^

I'm waiting for it to be in Washington DC one of these years.

Not just because I can drive there within the hour, but because it's the US capital. I'm surprised they haven't done it yet. >_>

Well, D.C. IS supposed to be in TF2...

Seriously, though, I doubt it'll ever be in D.C. Hotel prices, I would imagine.

If it's close, I might think about it. Dunno though, for I have no monies. That is largely responsible for why I've never attended any sort of convention before...plus I'll be blowing most of my spare cash on a trip to Bean Town this fall. D:

Alas...
