Human transformers?

Unread post by Vampyerba »

I was talking to a friend of mine, and he brought up the idea of human transformers. As in instead of vehicles, or animals, humans turning into robots. I thought this was a silly idea, as a human turning into a robot would look ridiculous, but I thought I'd see what your guys opinion was.

pff! i htought about tht years ago... :P

i always thought it would be cool to have a human transformer. i even had a human character as one point, but i couldnt draw her back then.

thing is, you have a primate transformer already (namely, Optimus Primal), so there isnt tht much difference. and when you say human to you mean modern man human or anthropoid human as in chak or oona?

if you nbased the design on Optimus, and have all the bits going in the right places, i think you may be able to pull it off. and im sure if the TF movie designers would come up with a way ^^

so, yu coul have ahuman TF. the main issue you would have is whether or not to have them au-naturelle XD i suppose you could give them clothes to wear all thetime, like the fur of a beast mode.

or they could just have a sexy loincloth *rofl*

bu thts just my opinion/view of it. anyone else?

Yeah, like Jagna I had that idea a long time ago. It makes an interesting concept. I once wrote a story where there was a TF who adopted the beast mode of a human being, only he looked like Vinnie Jones on steroids, and 9 feet tall. He complained that because of his robotic size, he didn't blend in very well as a human because he was 'oversized', just as Rattrap is oversized as a rat in the show. I think I'd notice a human TF...he'd probably look a bit clunky and strange, at the very least.

I once heard somewhere that the entire point of carrying protoforms on an exploration mission was so that when they found a new civilization, they could drop a pod and the Maximal could then blend in to the population, learning as much as they could without having to announce he/she was an alien. With that in mind, the existence of a human or humanoid TF would make perfect sense.

Hmm... As for the clothes issue, the novel forms of the "Animorphs" series had a similar issue. Their solution was that they eventually learned to "morph" body-suits for themselves when they couldn't take their street clothes with them after they changed in to animals (the TV show had their clothes "morph" back and forth with them rather than getting dropped or torn during the change). A human Transformer would have to have some sort of form fitting, flexible outfit that transforms with them, or they would have to ditch/tear their clothes every time they wanted to go to robot mode.

I've been toying with this idea too, and I can up with an idea for using holograms. A transformer could take on a human-shape and then have the hologram "worn" over that. It probably wouldn't work perfectly for interacting physically with humans, but if you're just trying to blend in without being noticable I think it could work. Size would still be an issue for most Transformers, but a smaller one could pull it off.

I can't see a real human turning into a robot. I have this old Transformer comic where they had Autobot Pretenders. They were robots that had human shells(they could separate from them). They still had a vehicle mode and beside that I don't much about them, but it would be cool if they did a modern version of them.

I'm not sure I like the idea. Sure if it's like how it was in that episode "Only Human" but a human being transforming into a robot? That would scare the living day lights out of everyone who witnessed it. O.O
