Chapter 8: Warrior's Calling

Blackarachnia sighed as she looked at Silverbolt's life signs, concern carved into her features. The incensed Fuzor had nearly killed himself in his mad assault on the Predacon/Vehicon forces. Now he was in an intensive care CR Chamber, having his system cleansed of cybervenom.

Primal Prime marched in, taking in the whole scene with his calm green optics. Walking forward, he spoke to the female Maximal. "How's our patient?"

"As well as can be expected," the former Predacon replied. "I'm shocked that he even survived taking this much cybervenom. I'm a Cybertronian spider, and even I would have been sent into a coma from such an overdose."

"Let's just hope that he recovers soon; I can see that team moral has been down. Go get some sleep; I'll keep an eye on him."

Dinobot was seated at a console in the main control room, his blood red optics pouring over the information on the screen. He had once again called up all the data Primal Prime had downloaded upon his arrival. Now Dinobot found himself struggling over the revelations.

"The Tripredacus Council and Tarantulas...descendents of Unicron! To think that since the Pax Cybertronia, the Predacons have been ruled by the Chaos Bringer's spawn! It is an insult to our race, our Decepticon ancestors, and even our Maximal and Autobot brethren!"

Falling silent, Dinobot pondered his emotions. Though a Maximal by change of allegiance, he still had loyalties to the Predacon race at large. Ever since returning to Cybertron, he had nursed plans to enter the field of politics, planning to aid Predacon-Maximal relations. In such a position, he would form ties between his native brethren and his adoptive race.

However, Dinobot now faced a dilemma. As long as the Predacons were ruled by the Tripredacus Council, no chance existed for a cease of tensions. The very nature of Unicron would become evident in his children, and efforts towards peace would suffer complete failure.

Dinobot's eyes narrowed. If the Tripredacus Council, unnatural Transformers that they were, were an impediment to the union of Cybertron's peoples, then he personally would rectify the problem. Though assassination was not an activity he had ever taken part in, his code of honor demanded that he destroy such beings. Standing up, he closed down the information, called up a document, and typed up a message for his comrades. He explained his reasons for leaving, and promised that he would return as soon as he was able.

Several minutes later, Dinobot stalked into the Axalon Tower vault. Only one item was situated in the large room, set on a pedestal in the center of the chamber. It was the Transmetal Driver the Vok had provided to himself and his companions before dispatching them to Cybertron. They had previously used it only once, to restore their comrades on Cybertron to their Beast Wars incarnations. However, Dinobot now had another idea for how to use the device to his advantage.

Taking the Driver, Dinobot loaded it into a cargo container. That done, he closed the vault, and made his way outside. Now only one last item needed to be taken care of: he needed an accomplice. Dinobot had a plan to acquire one, who would not only work with his Predacon goals, but also decrease the enemy ranks.

Waspinator sighed as he sat on a rooftop near the Predacon-Vehicon headquarters. He had come up here to get away from his comrades, who had once again mocked him for his ineptitude and cowardice. The Predacon felt low as usual, a long-time pessimist due to his long history of humiliation.

Completely absorbed in his self-pity, Waspinator only became aware that someone else was on the roof when a huge claw came to rest against his throat. "Scream and you're slag, Waspinator."

Gulping, Waspinator allowed himself to be turned around. Seeing Dinobot, he became even more frightened. "What Lizard-Bot want with Waspinator?"

"I'm going to exterminate the Tripredacus Council, and I need help. You are the only one I can afford to take."

"WASPINATOR?"

"Listen to me! You are the only Predacon who has a chance of redemption in the eyes of the law. I need your help, and you are going to provide it."

"But Waspinator can't kill Tripredacus Council!"

"Insect! My patience is wearing thin! You are a Transmetal! More power courses through your body than does in most of Cybertron's inhabitants!"

Waspinator still looked unsure. Sighing, Dinobot spoke. "I will teach you; you won't be bullied anymore."

At that, Waspinator's wings went crazy. "Let's go!"

Later, as Dinobot and Waspinator boarded a ship that Dinobot had "borrowed", Waspinator spoke. "Will Lizard-Bot really be nice to Waspinator?"

"Brothers we are, my friend. Trust me, when I am through with you, you shall be a Predacon that all shall envy!"

Together, the pair of former criminals, now comrades once again, soared off towards destiny.

To be continued...
