Last week in July, I believe. I know it's later than the U.S., at the very least.

It's the same guy who did the narration for the Animated TF Movie.

Also, look at the car NEXT to the one they're checking out at the car dealership. There's supposed to be stuff like that EVERYWHERE in the movie.

Also, some GREAT quality image stills, showing Bonecrusher, Optimus Prime, and Barricade:

xD Yaaaaay consistency!!! I love it when they bring back voice over guys an' stuff.

Prime's body design interests me. While I'd prefer the fun stylistic versions of G1, I'm very curious to see what the movie TFs will look like.

Actually, finalized design sketches or renders of pretty much all the movie characters have already been revealed on line. You can see all the leaked concept art, CGI renders, and toy prototypes in one convenient thread here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=115458

 eeeee.

I wonder who designed these bots. Nothin like G1 at all. Now I'm interested to see how they transform, cuz it ain't all the smooth sides and angles I'm used to seeing. These guys look like something out of my nightmares. o_o;

I see Screamer's an F-22 Raptor, which makes me happy. And I like Ironhide's design. I don't have a truck in my TF collection yet. Maybe I'll get him.

And if you squint really hard at Megatron's head it kinda looks like he's wearing the famous bucket.... =3

Thankies Beastbot.

The reasons for the radical change in design aesthetics is threefold:
- Emphasize the alien-ness of the Transformers
- Make them look more "adult". This is a movie aiming at a PG-13 rating, with VERY intense action and some violence-- I'll eat my hat if someone doesn't get impaled in this movie, and from what I've heard Megatron kills someone in a rather gruesome manner. Rumor is that the movie narrowly escaped an R rating, but that's only a rumor at this point. As such, this movie is aimed more at the crowd who grew up with the '80s Transformers and are now young adults-- kids may be a market, but they're a secondary market. Classic-style TFs would look rather toy-ish in comparison in a live-action movie.
- Movement. The designers have stated quite a few times that movement would be too restricted with the more solid, more armor-plated look of the classic-style TFs. They'd have to cheat too much to make them move, to the point where it would be far too obvious that parts were moving into each other and whatnot.

And FYI, there was a half-hour movie teaser aired at Toyfair, behind closed doors and only for a very small audience. Those who saw the transformations say they are AMAZING. There are literally HUNDREDS of parts moving at once.

I've been hearing a lot of mixed reactions regarding the movie, but the trailers and character designs look absolutely mad! I love the blurred, awkward pictures of the transformers - it looks like a spur of the moment honey-can-you-grab-my-camera-NOW! shot at a passing UFO.

And is it just me, or did the beginning of the Destiny trailer remind you of Herbie? :D

*scratches head* Yeah, I see the reasons behind the designing of the new Transformers. I have no doubt I'll be impressed when I see them movie, bwaha.

xD The original G1 Bots would be very much "O_o;; ???!" if they saw these designs, though. Which one was it, Soundbyte, who looks so fragile and thin and scary? I had this image of Soundwave looking at it, poking it, and breaking it by accident.

"They just don't make them like they used to!"
