Watchmen

Remember in my Gatecon report from August last year that Garry Chalk (Optimus Primal) told me he landed a small part in the new blockbuster hit Watchmen? I haven't seen the movie yet but friends and family have spotted him in it as a U.S. General. Schweet. It's such a small part that I don't think he's credited at all but he's there.

I've also heard that this is a really good movie but that there's a lot of graphic gore and nudity in it. Neither of those bother me; I'm just looking forward to the special effects, action and getting to know the characters since I have not read the graphic novel yet.

Has anyone else seen this movie?

Just got back from it. I missed Gary :( WIll have to look for him when I rewatch it.

That said, it is very graphic but also an amazing movie with a great story and special effects. I loved it and hope to see it again next week.

I went to see the midnight premiere the other night. Gary is in the war room with Nixon and is basically giving him the run-down of information about the Russians. He gets a lot of dialog, actually.

Also, I know some guys are squeemish, so I'll be up front. There's a lot of swinging cod in the film because Dr. Manhattan is nude most of the time. Otherwise, it was enjoyable from my stand point

Oh, and before I went to see the movie, I wasn't sure about Jackie Earle Haley playing Rorschach, as the photos they had of him on IMDB before the premiere were not.... what I pictured from reading the comic. However, he cleaned up AMAZINGLY for the movie. I do say, I fell in love with movie Rorschach. I <3 sociopaths! *huggles Rampage and Rorschach*

Ugh. I didn't get home until about 1am this morning after seeing Watchmen. But it was worth it! Quite a long movie.

I agree, Baron.

Awesome, Joshin! I did that with The Dark Knight last year but I wasn't prepared to do it again. It's tough getting to bed at 1 or 2 in the morning and then getting up for work the same morning at 5:20am. Oh well. Was anyone dressed up at that premiere?

Garry had more dialogue than I anticipated, yesss. It was refreshingly a lot more than his tiny role in Eight Below. He had another scene later in the movie but it was more focused on Nixon and another guy; I saw him at the corner of the screen.

Me too, guruhamboy. Hope you enjoy the movie!

Seen it now, and it was great. :)

The idea of it not appealing to an audience who haven't read the source material is nonsense - doesn't apply to me anyway.

Gary was a nice suprise in it. I slightly geeked when I saw him lol.

memememememe! I wasn't expecting it either. I just sitting back in my seat until I saw a flash of him. At first I thought it was my imagination as I perked up and sat up straighter. And then they show him again talking!

I was squirming in my seat in happiness doing everything I can to NOT let out a fangirl scream. Thank goodness it was a school day because that theater was empty.

Jason took me to see it, even though most of it confused me. But it was good.
