Goodbye

I say goodbye to all. Being on this board seems futile. I hate this show, now. I find it stupid. So there's no reason for me to stick around. Most the things I comment on is, nothing that has to do w/ BW. (General section, or rant section) I may lurk. Probably not. If I'm on AIM, or some other messenger I wouldn't ignore anyone, if they try to talk to me. Turning 16 made me realize kind of, to grow up. I mean it's okay to like cartoons. But Jeez, I don't know. I never watch the DVD anymore, I don't write any more fanfiction for the show, Never did fan art. I don't like to read fanfiction for BW.
I look back, and for a while I was like alot of you, and loved Beast wars. But now I think it's for a child. I am not calling people who like it children. Just cartoons to me are for children. If something interesting pops up on the board, I will comment. But I probably won't be coming back, unless to wish those members that are my friends, a happy birthday or something like that.
If anyone wants to use my characters, or finish any of my series, e-mail me. I will gladly let you.

Until then,
~Darkshadow~

I think it's sad that you're leaving and even sadder that your words of departure has such a bitter undertone when i read on and between the lines. Suddenly you say you find it silly and all this after you turned 16?
You have the right to think what you want, as do the rest of us.
I completely disagree with your sudden opinion about cartoons though. I'm proud to say that yesterday evening, me, my sister and my dad watched Madagascar at mom and dad's apartment and it's probably one of the best comedies of the year.
I'm 29 years old and i'll watch cartoons until i pass on.
Goodbye and good luck wherever you go.

You find it silly? After turning 16? Why do I have a feeling you might have been feeling this way because someone who actually paid you attention told you that..told you to grow up?
Listen Dark, nobody wakes up one morning, turns sixteen and
grows up I recall MANY coversations in which you would pout, and demand attention, *cocks head* almost like a child... To have called yourself more mature, more
grown-up you would realize that by posting something as hypocritical as what you did,
But now I think it's for a child. I am not calling people who like it children. Just cartoons to me are for children.
You contradict yourself numourus times, and, truth be known, if you found us so infantile, and not worth your time. Then you would tell us so gracefully. Not stating that you think Beast Wars is stupid ever other sentance.
And, furthuremore , if we do annoy you, and
disgrace your mentality and maturity, you would leave this board permanently, and never look back.
You want to wish someone a happy birthday, there's email, there's instant messeging. And lastly, you shouldn't even be reading this response, should you? If you were to have given us all up for good.
Take Care Dark, best not to look back after a speech like that.
Lady Venom
PS, I turned 21 today, and am beyond happy to watch cartoons, read fanfiction and draw art, even if for the last TWO YEARS it had nothing to do with Beast Wars. The reason for that? I accept it as who I am, I like certain cartoons, and that's fine with me and others, because we know that to like cartoons, does not make us mentally inferior, it just means we're secure enough with ourselves.

Gee whiz, Ds. I've never seen this side of you.

You'll still be around MSN and dA, right? I'd hate to lose contact with you entirely.
Happy belated birthday, LV!
You know what, I'm 22 and I still watch SpongeBob, Simpsons, Family Guy, Invader Zim, Angry Beavers, Rocko's Modern Life, and I don't care what anyone thinks. I used to think SpongeBob looked so ridiculous when it was coming out and I refused to watch it. Now, I watch it all the time. I don't remember what got me into it, but I love the voice acting and it cracks me up. I'm happy watching cartoons. In fact, I wanted to be a cartoonist when I was in high school but it seemed too difficult a career to get into. Now I want to get into voice acting because I think it would be so fun and great to add my talent to a cartoon among other things. Hopefully some day, and not far away.
Anywho, I don't want to "grow up." Beast Wars will always be my favorite show... or at least for a very long time from now. LoL It has been since '96 when it aired in the US, so why should I hate it now or anytime soon? *shrugs* I love the animation, the story, the characters and their development, and, of course, the voice acting. I don't think anything will change that. But that's just me; I know who I am.

*Sigh*
Why do I get the feeling this is just another cry for attention?
You know... I was about to say something very similar to what Lady Venom had posted but since she's already said everything that needed to be said to you, I think I'm going to pass.
And you know what else? Especially after what you posted, I do think it's best that you leave this board and never look back if you really think you're somehow better than us for being "grown up."
But I digress. Farewell, Dark. I wish you the best in life but I agree with Lady Venom in that I think it's best if you not looked back after this 'bout.

I am 20, as you know I recently turned it.
I love cartoons. I admit, I probably watch them a bit too much, but I love them. To suddenly stop watching something, because you're 'grown up' is something childish on it's own.
To think that being 'grown up' means you stop watching cartoons, writing fanfics, drawing fan art, and becoming an old prude.. then I'd like to pass.
Take my father for example.. he's almost 50.. When he can watch them, he enjoys cartoons like Dragonball Z, Reboot, Beast Wars, The Simpsons.. and probably other that I have no idea about.
Does that make him a child?
I certainly hope not..
----
DarkShadow, goodbye, farewell, and good luck. I wish you no ill will, but I really do hope you get a better head on your shoulders soon because acting this way will lose you a lot of friends.

Heh when I was 16, which was around a year ago, I did the same thing and tried to convince myself that I was too old for Beast Wars, but it turned out that I'm not cut out for RPG's. RIght now I'm 17 and proudly loving kids shows that don't air on PBS and I don't give a damn as to what people around me say (my family teasedme for getting a 10th anniversary Waspy).

After re-reading your post Dark, yes I do find it childish, however, it is your opinion and like I said at work tonight: To each their own.
Although I love the show for it's humor, plots and character info, I also find it a part of me and as a coping mechinisum(sp?)
Ever since I was a child (grade 4) I had low self esteem, mainly because the other kids made fun of me for having a learning disability, thus I had few friends. When I started watching Beast Wars, I found out that 'hey, this is a great way to make me feel better after a rough day at school' so I continued watching it without fail, even when it repeated itself. I memorized the episodes so I could go back to a scene to an episode I liked and make myself laugh when I felt down. I was heartbroken when it went off the air and Beast Machines just didn't have that same feeling for me, so you can imagin my expression when I found out it was back.
So yes, you may find it childish, but others think of it as entertainment, a gathering of friends and/or family and a way to escape reality. Please respect those around you when bringing up your opinions from now on and I hope to chat with you again some time.

Darkie,
If you feel BW to be stupid etc, I can respect that. Life does go on and interests do fluctuate. You could have worded it better *nudges*, but I think I'll survive.
As far as my personal opinion goes, a cartoon is just as stupid as it's storyline, characters ,plot etc. One judges it as one does any TV show. That it's animated doesn't contribute to it's being babyish. I know
puh-lenty of TV shows and movies that can be called babyish and plenty of cartoons that rule.
I remember when I first watched "The Lion King" I fell in love with it, tearing up at a few places. But as the eldest I wasn't supposed to like "cartoons" so...a lot of pain and being teased and stuff.
But thankfully my love for cartoons won out and still prevails to this day.
If you want to leave, do.
But know that you will always have a few friends here.
