Get a brief feel for the characters, including the new Blackarachnia! Oh, and a few other BW throwbacks-- Bumblebee saying "We're all gonna die" and, I'm told, the use of Stasis Pods elsewhere in the 90-minute long first episode.
Looks like we're getting our first well-written TF show in a LONG time, w00tw00tw00t! Premiers in the U.S. on Cartoon Network December 26th at 8:00 PM EST!
New direction and style, obviously. And yes, the toys DO look like that. If you're particularly curious about certain characters, just do an Internet search, quite a few prototypes have been revealed. Even if it's not your cup of tea, the engineering on these new toys is AMAZING. It looks impossible for them to transform from one mode to the other, but they do.
According to David Kaye (who's voicing Optimus Prime in this series), expect Waspinator to show up sometime later in the series, as well.
Oh, and Optimus has his mask. It can just slide away, like in the movie.
eh......... Prime doesn't look like Prime without his mask. I had been wondering why he looked so weird in that series and now I know.
Really? WaspinAtor's gonna be in it?! YYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

He won't be voiced by Scott McNeil, due to the company they're hiring voice actors from, but according David Kaye he'll be in it. (Likely in the 2nd season, though, as from the 1st season episode blurbs, none sound like he's in them.) Kaye said that although McNeil's not voicing Waspy, he will sound "familiar".
Cree Summers sounds a lot like Venus Terzo. This animation is wierd, but the show at least sounds interesting. And are they trying to reaffirm the first G1 episode (what with the evasion of Meg's ship, and the asteroid field, etc.) with a few new plot concepts (like the all spark).
No, although that particular clip sort of mirrors the first G1 episode, this is not just a G1 rehash in a different style. Several intriguing differences:
-Optimus Prime is not the leader of the Autobots, just the equivalent of a general. He's also fairly young, as you can tell from his voice. In fact, he's a lot more like Primal than Prime, now that I think about it...
-The Decepticons were supposedly defeated millennia ago. Since then, there has been peace. Hence the big surprise at a Decepticon battle cruiser suddenly pulling up behind them and the even bigger surprise at Megatron. Don't expect the Decepticons to be pushovers, either-- according to Hasbro at Botcon, if the Decepticons were outnumbered 5-to-1 in a fight, odds are 50/50 who would win.
-The Autobots are likely not all Cybertronians that weren't Decepticons in this continuity, as there's an "Autobot Academy" that Optimus apparently flunked out of for not doing enough things by the book. The Autobots are apparently a police force in this continuity, and over time, without any real threat, have become an ineffective bureaucracy. (Hence the "due to our ongoing efforts to conserve Energon, this feature has been disabled" bit in the clip.) Ultra Magnus is apparently the head of the Autobots, not Optimus, and another more "decorated" Prime, Sentinel Prime, will apparently join the fight sometime later in the first season. (A bit of a G1 nod, there-- in the comics, Sentinel Prime was always said to be the Prime who ruled before Optimus, and was killed by Megatron which began the Great War.)
-Optimus' crew will crash land in Detroit, Michigan, in about the year 2050 or so, so expect a lot of futuristic stuff in this series even on the human side.
-Also expect some human supervillains to fight the Autobots at first, with the Decepticons pulling the strings. The supervillains will be the initial "minor threats", so when you see a Decepticon you know there's REALLY something bad going down.
Wow... Okay I will frist say that Beast Wars is the ONLY transformers series I have ever liked. I've always found transformers asides from BW to be very childish. The only reason I watched the video was because you mentioned BA was in it, and I thought the sight of another blackarachnia would make me cry in disgust. But that was actually...really good! The Blackarachnia seems to aheva similar personality to the real BA, and there was good humour through out that clip with star scream and megatron. I think I will actually watch this series!
"Even if I'm good, I'm still bad." - Blackarachnia

And about time too! On thing that's frustrated me to no end in the "Unicron Trilogy" is the overwhelming amount of Autobots that absolutely trash the small posse of Decepticons and win in the end due to "teamwork" because the odds are 20,000,000,000 Autobots to 5 Decepticons. Hopefully the plotline will comphensate for the lack of proportion, which doesn't actually look too eye-glaringly bad when in motion.
as there's an "Autobot Academy" that Optimus apparently flunked out of for not doing enough things by the book.
Sadly I can't see that clip. My computer doesn't have the program. what I know of the show I've seen form clips on youtube.

*jaw drops* I live in Michigan, fairly near (though not in) Detroit.
Yes, yes, yes! All Michigan ever got was Home Improvement.

We don't know anything about Season 2 yet other than that it's being produced, it's way too early to know about the season itself other than that presumably Waspinator will premiere in it, somewhere. Given that we saw an ever-so-brief couple finished animated frames of Arcee at the Botcon preview, but have yet to see an actual toy prototype of her, I'd imagine she's in the latter half of Season 1. If you visit the Cartoon Network site I linked to and view the Episode Guides for the upcoming Season, current theory among the fandom is that Arcee (along with Jazz and maybe a few other TFs) will be along Sentinel Prime's "Elite Guard" that arrives after things really start to heat up about halfway through the first season.
Definitely looks like the old, no-nonsense bureaucrat the plot hints at him being.

I am still unsure about the style, but the content I found quite intriguing. I get the feeling it could be something that grows on me. Thanks for sharing, Beastbot! I don't suppose you know when it'll air in the UK? I haven't a clue where to find air dates for these things.
