A generalized time frame for BotCon '08 has been given! From the ever-awsome Brian Savage!
"We are working on BotCon '08. I can't tell you much so far, but I can tell you that it will be in the Spring this year, sometime around the end of April, first of May. Details will be released on BotCon.com as soon as they are available."
So now we have a generalized time-frame.

Hopefully if it holds up, then I shall be catching ya all, once again, within a year.

*sigh*
Unless it's closer to mid-may or magically in Denver.. I won't be making it.
I'll be going through finals/graduating at that time, unfortunately.. Which sucks because of the new timing I will almost 100% be guaranteed to miss the next *two* botcons.
(and by murphy's law, it'll be 100% likely that someone I want to meet direly guest wise will be at botcon... )
One more thing ontop of my bad luck week.
I'm going to go curl up somewhere and be depressed.

What a rotten time of year to have it. I don't know about the U.S., but end of April/beginning of May is not a holiday time for University or school in the UK. From what I gather this is the same problem for US citizens. Many Botcon goers are students who can't afford time away from school/college in the middle of a term/semester. I understand that Botcon is organized by the same people who manage the GI Joe convention and so they cannot have them back-to-back, but couldn't they at least time Botcon so that it coincides with school holidays?

P.S. This post is probably meant as a humor attempt.

...
BM Jetstorm: "Saaay what?"
Why such a spooty time? Do they NOT want fans to attend next year? April or May is riiight on top of the time frame I might be using to take a two week vacation to New Zealand. Although, going to the BC would be muuuuch cheaper for me since I don't really have a couple grand to spend on a two week vacation. -.-
This really boggles up everyones plans, and I'm really curious to know why early spring is even an option. Mid to late summer is much more sensible for fans around the world.

I guess they went with their proposed plan to move Botcon to the spring on non-movie years.
Me, my college is on the quarter system, so my finals aren't until the 2nd week of June, so it doesn't affect me-- I'm pretty sure I'll be able to attend. That is a very odd time of year to have it, though. You'd think they'd move it back a month to March to coincide with Spring Break if they wanted to have it that time of year.

That's probably finals week for me. Mid-May would be better.

Mid April would have worked out far better for me as that times well with my mid-semester break, and July would work just as well due to mid-year breaks around then for me as well.
Terrible time to have it if you're trying to get yourself an education =\

He didn't say it on a site, it's in the introductory column in the latest TF Club Newsletter.

Ok, so I travelled all the way to Botcon headquarters, with several quotes, and questions. Camped infront of the building all day and night and I... pffft *cracks up* Ok, ok, seriously... I sent in a comment to the Botcon site.
The reply was: 'It's just a rumor, nothing has been confirmed.'
So, tee hee, end of that. There might just be hope yet for 2008.

Hm. Well, rumor or not, I doubt I'll be attending BotCon next year because I'll be blowing my money on a vacation to Vancouver, BC, Canada for my first Stargate convention. Hopefully.
