Yeah, I wish they showed ALOT more of the actual BW cast. It was good, but I think it would've improved with a little more action concerning the actual Maximals/Predacons at the time. Megatron rocked though, beating down Magmatron--something even Grimlock couldn't do.

Having just read the last issue to the follow-up miniseries, "The Ascending", "The Gathering" is much better. Basically IDW's BW series goes straight from "The beginning of a new Beast Wars!" to "The final conflict where everyone must band together to fight off the ultimate evil!" There should have been at least 2-3 more miniseries before this one. And there's an introduction of a couple dozen MORE characters, when the ones introduced in "The Gathering" didn't have much characterization to begin with. And it looks like the BW miniseries are ending with "The Ascending", though there are still a few minor things that could lead to another miniseries. It's still written rather well, it just seems rather rushed, though there's a NICE segue to Beast Machines on the last page...

(Oh, and don't expect any of the show characters minus Ravage to show up in "The Ascending"... at least until the last page of the last issue. I personally don't mind-- this is definitely a "what's going on elsewhere" BW comic series-- but some of you mind.)

And going a little further off-topic, I'm currently reading through the third Beast Wars Sourcebook. The part of Rhinox's bio explaining his Transmetal form is very, very, VERY interesting...

Is "the gathering" the first book in the BW comic miniseries? I like to read such things in chronological order, (:

The Gathering typically seems to be between $15 and $20, depending on where you buy it.

There are currently 3 books. Each book consists of four comics in each of the three series. Two books with actual stories (Gathering and Ascending), and the Sourcebook has profiles of the BW characters.
The Gathering is the only trade paperback out right now. The Ascending trade paperback is coming out in February with the Sourcebook trade paperback the following month (I think).
I've seen the Gathering in book stores (Borders), but you can find all of the books online at places like amazon.com. I'm actually going to pre-order the trades of the Ascending and Sourcebook later today.

Yes, it is first.

I saw the Gathering at Waldenbooks last summer. I would have bought it then but I'd just spent all my money on the Movie Novel and the Movie soundtrack so i couldn't buy it. Now I'm sad that I didn't. :(

I loved the Gathering. I also just finished the Ascending. It was good but it had too many crossing plot threads. I think if it was longer 6-8 issues it would have turned out better.

I hope they do another one soon.

I just recently special ordered BW The Gathering at Barnes and Nobles, needless to say, I look forward to reading this comic book since all of you have given it such high ratings! 8)

They'll be calling me to let me know they have it sometime this week, gonna be AWESOME! Its been so hard resisting the temptation to look up spoilers of the story on Teletran 1 wiki

What I discovered is that I had to buy a bunch more BW toys on ebay after reading that book! Beware lol!
