Redwall fans?

Unread post by Blazemane »

Hey, while this forum is dedicated to Beast Wars, I was wondering if there were any Redwall (the books) fans on this board.
I understand... you are, after all, a predacon.

Oh yeah! I own Lord Brocktree, Martin the Warrior (somehow, I've ended up with 3 copies), Mossflower, The Legend of Luke, Mariel of Redwall, Outcast of Redwall, I had Redwall (but I don't know where it went), I have Mattimeo, The Pearls of Lutra, The Long Patrol, Marlfox, Taggerung (one of my favorites), Triss and Loamhedge.

To my shame, I have yet to read the most recent one, High Rulain.

I don't know what my favorite absolutely is, but it's probably between Lord Brocktree and Taggerung.

So which one's your favorite (anybody else feel free to answer that also)?
I understand... you are, after all, a predacon.

Redwall was pretty good, probably my 3rd favorite. I guess it's just my style: to enjoy stories which focus quite a bit on the building of a main character. That description definitely fits Lord Brocktree and Taggerung. But it isn't like I don't enjoy siege-stories. Redwall is a mix of the two styles. You follow Matthias' growth into a warrior, and yet your dealing with a whole army storming the gates.

Redwall was a very good story.

However, maybe that's why I like Lord Brocktree so much. I mean, Lord Brocktree has to become badger lord and all, and yet there's the whole getting rid of the wilcat's horde, which have actually taken over Salamandastron. So I guess Lord Broctree is probably my favorite (I'm very indecisive about may things). I can't explain why I like Taggerung so much, I just do. Maybe it's because it's the story of a bad guy becoming good, added to the fact that he's bad unknowingly. He was stolen from the Redwaller's at birth, so it's like the vermin get their scheme tossed right back at them.

So long explanation, I just think the Redwall series is cool.

Lady-warrior, of course feel free to continue to comment, but this is a call to anyone else out there: feel free to comment or this will end up having to go to pm.
I understand... you are, after all, a predacon.

I red Lord brocktree. i don't really like the badger or his "fatal beauty" rabbit friend though she's funny. I liked the villian in that story though. I felt sorry for him. (don't ask why) HE DROWNED!
I just wish they didn't talk about food so much in the stories. I always get real hungry reading the stories.
I read some of Taggerung but it was boring and didn't hold my interest. I haven't read the newest ones. I can't afford anymore.
I liked Mariel of redwall cuz the hero was a girl and girls don't get very big parts in stories. they usually blend in with the woodwork. Except the badgers. lol

Yeah, that villain is hands down the most evil, ruthless, and probabaly strongest vermin leader out of all the books.

And it's not his drowning that concerns me, it's him getting his back broken by Brocktree.

*shudder

Man, being fans of the same series, we choose a lot of different favorites. But that's cool. :D

I didn't think Bellmaker was all that good. The Long Patrol was pretty good. I haven't read it for a while. I have read almost all of them twice, some three times. But like I mentioned earlier, I still havn't read High Rulain. :(

WARNING: SPOILERS * SPOILERS * SPOILERS * SPOILERS * SPOILERS

Mossflower is about the general freeing of Mossflower (the forest by Redwall) from the clutches of yet another Wild cat, Tsarmina. She has a castle, which eventually moles drown underwater, and of course, since Martin the Warrior is alive during this time, he kills Tsarmina, but he hardly lives to talk about it. Other subpolts in it are Brockhall, Martin trying to remember his past (basically the stuff that happens in the book Martin the Warrior), and Mossflower residents moving from Brockhall to another location for every free creature (eventually to become Redwall. We will see in the Legend of Luke that it is beginning to be built.)

I was thinking! NO!!! At elast let ONE villian live to regret his evil deeds!
Read Outcast of Redwall. Maybe you already have.
well it's the classic cat vs dog thing, though as always the dog wins. grrrr!!!!!!
All cats are evil. House cats that is. The "evil" clause does not apply to lions, leopards, cougars, jaguar, cheetah (lets think for a moment :D ) and basically anyone in the cat family who isn't a house cat.

Go Dogs!
I loved Squire Jullien! what an angysty cat! lol.
Which one? There are at least 2 throughout the series. Although I'm going to assume you mean Redwall's. He is pretty cool (but a vegetarian cat?!? Come on...).
Slagar would have to be one of my favorite villain in the Redwall series. He one of the few that I can actually remember.
While I still think of Brocktree's enemy as the most evil in general, Slagar's plot was the most evil. Period. Ah well, he learned the hard way not to enslave a warrior's son (or any son or daughter in Redwall).

Fun talking :D

Great Now I want that book. Partly because the villian's femalel! BWAHAHAA!
Read Outcast of Redwall. Maybe you already have.
No I haven't. Now I'll have to buy it.

CAT'S ARE NOT EVIL! I OWN 3 CATS AND THEY'RE ADORABLE. well one of them is a super grouch but that doens't count as evil. Cats are sweet. As for dogs. welll I have a sluight fear of them because of an incident when I was little.

Refering to the first one. He gave Mathias wisdom about the sword.

lol. his idea might have been the most evil but he was one of the villians (sides the evil cat and Cluny) I liked. I happn to adore foxes! lol

That was the first one I ever read, so it will always have a special place in my heart, even though it's not my favorite one. Still, it's pretty good. I do suggest it, although maybe you should get it from a library before you buy it.

MMMM, OF COURSE *v-raptor snarl. Yes, they are adorable. But don't you see? They're like the one ring. Sure their cute, but that's their power. They want you closer and closer and then finally WHAMMO, you're in their clutches.

They say feed me.
You say: How much?

They say jump.
You say: How high?

They say: PET ME NOW!
You say: How long, my master?

And once your lost, there's no coming back. Meanwhile, other's stand back and ask who is the real pet.
Cats are sweet.
......................Uh, ...uuuhhhh.......

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA OH HOO WOO HOO OH HOO HOO HOO HOO AHA HA HA HA HA!
As for dogs. welll I have a sluight fear of them because of an incident when I was little.
I've had my family's (technically my older brother's, but... yeah right :D ) dog bite me when I was about five years old. But that was my own fault. My dog doesn't like her tail being touched, much less pulled.

But it was more like being nipped; what happened to me probably wasn't nearly as bad as what happened to you. The important thing is this. Dogs don't go on the offensive for no reason. You just gotta no how not to be a threat to them. Walk up, talk somewhat high and hold out your hand for them to smell. Pet them, and it's then you realize how cool dogs are. I can't garauntee you'll ever get over what happened to you, but it's worth a shot.

I wasn't doing anything to this dog. It just came along and acted like a total jerk. This incident hapepned to me again a few years later. I wasn't bothering that dog either! It came out of nowhere! You can't tell me dogs aren't evil!
Conflict here; I'm a cat lover and you're a dog lover. Let's not discuss this anymore.
here watch the beast warriors sound like chipmunks.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FSGi2UMZ3k

Foxes are the only dogs I like. They're adorable, sly, and have bushy tails! hehhehee.

I wish Cluny hadn't died in Redwall. I liked him. :( he was a funny villian. He had an entertaining way of making his minions prove how moronic they really were.

I read the Legend of Luke as well. That book was kinda boring. Maybe I'm just feeling bad for the villian vermin in these stories. lol. I just thought of something.... Why do all the ferrets have to be evil? and WHY DOESN'T HE EVER PUT HAMSTERS IN HIS STORIES?![/i]
