Resurrection of BWint Series Idea

OK I know there are a few of you out there who started to get pretty excited about the concept of working on our own series/episode/movie/whatever and I'm really happy to hear that. Unfortunately at the moment I am still unable to be online for any consistent period of time due to the crazy shenanigans of London. Fortunately, I will be returning home at the beginning of August and I should have some time to restart my usual ranting/raving/tap-dancing monkey adventures around then. If anyone has ideas with regards to this concept, feel free to start posting them and discussing things amongst yourselves. I'll try to keep an eye on this thread as much as I can, but if I don't respond you know why. Let's get this party started people. Perhaps something worth displaying at Botcon 2008? Have a think about that

series/episode/movie/whatever
So we don't know which? While this is generally a pessimistic statement, we probably don't have the time to make a series. A movie would be a stretch. But oh the joy of actually accomplishing a series or even a movie or heck, even an episode.
I wanna make this sooooo badly.
Although, to be honest, if we made anything, I'm scared other die hard fans saying "What, the original wasn't good enough?" That's probably being too worried, but I mean we would be making our own plots with the original characters. Generally isn't that only accepted by fans in the realm of fan fiction?
Ah, maybe this could be considered extensive fan fiction.

I'm not promising fame and glory from this. All I'm saying is that it would be really cool to get something out there. Hell we may not even need a fully completed story. Throw out a cool trailer and perhaps interest will grow from there. I think what we need is a place to start. If those who are interested can put forward a recommended episode of a piece of fanfic, we can have a look and decide. I'd put forward my first ep of the fanfic for an example but I don't want it so become "Silver's Story" this is a united effort and we need a common ground. Then its a matter of getting models started (which is really the biggest hurdle). Once we get that out of the way and the models saved we can pretty much do anything we want with them (Dinobot in a tutu anyone

). If anyone knows anyone from Mainframe who would be REEEEEALLY friendly and let us "borrow" some of the original models that would be an excellent place to start
Now I need to stress this. In order for this to work I need people to work. I mean WORK. This project will probably a 2nd place thing for most people, what with study/work/etc, however as long as effort is put in it will be successful. I'm not interested in "Oh thats a good idea" I'm interested in "That's awesome! What if we do this?" and I want examples. I believe Maeglin posted his voice acting with the last thread and that was awesome. More people need to do that. Because of that single post, MD is pretty much up there on the list of people considered for this project. Caboose Moose also graced us with the link to Blender which has given us a base to work with. Enthusiasm is good, but proof is better. BWINT WANTS YOU! DO IT FOR YOUR WEBSITE!

a movie with the toys? eh? I don't understand. DINOBOT IN A TUTU! now that's a big no no! how ya going to do the voices? I'm used to Diniobot's raspy sore throat voice. any other would just sound weird.

o.k. How does does one post voice samples SilverfromOz?
And I don't want fame and glory, I just don't want to be shredded. But heck, I will say I'd rather get shredded in the attempt rather than never try.
For Frodo. *Wait, what?
EDIT: because I forgot.
In order for this to work I need people to work. I mean WORK. This project will probably a 2nd place thing for most people, what with study/work/etc, however as long as effort is put in it will be successful.
I will work as much as I can, however being a high schooler who's only been to a neighboring state before (I think I mentioned this in the last thread) does limit my mobility.
I know how negative and lazy and unwilling to be flexible I sound, and I know desire is not enough; that I've got to work, but it doesn't change what my situation is. I'm kind of stuck. Because I can't really move around (If I miraculously get the chance to, I'll let you know) I probably couldn't do voice acting (internet quality just isn't the same. Then again if you don't mind internet-quality sound then I'm game). So whatever I can do, please tell me.

Hi Artemis. OK the basic idea is that throughout BWint, we have a whole bunch of skills at our disposal. Some of us are great artists, others can voice act and so on. Now if we pool those resources together we can start to put something together. Caboose Moose gave us the link to a program called Blender which can be used to generate CG models and animate them. So if we can get people mucking around with Blender to start getting the basic character models sorted we then hve our "actors" to work with and we can do what we like with them (such as DB in a tutu

)
BM, we won't get shredded if we put in a decent effort, is pretty much the point I was trying to make. Previously I asked if people were willing to relocate (more from a curiosity point of view) however I fully understand that this is not practical and with the wonders of the internet, we can just send files. As far as how to show us examples, there are many ways. If you are a voice actor, pull out the mic, save some wav files of your various characters and then post them here (I'm not sure how to link properly myself however if you ask some of the veterans round here they can give you a run down). If you are an artist, post some design sketches or artworks of new characters you think would fit. Writers, give us a sample of what you think is your best work. And so on. There's a whole range of ways to show your skills and then best way to avoid being "shredded" is to do this research before starting. Any long-term project needs a strong foundation and this is the only way it will move forward.
That paragraph seems a bit serious but I'd like to share with you a vision:
Botcon 2008: The large projector screen in the main area descends as the crowd stands by in anticipation of new CG Transformerly goodness. Across the screen appear the words: "The Beast Wars are over"
Cut to Megatron laughing whilst standing surrounded by new Predacons.
"Or are they?"
Then shots of new CG characters, old favourites and new environments showing fights, explosions and all the great stuff you want in a good trailer.
If we get anywhere near that point I will be super impressed. If we get further then I can die a very happy man (in many years time).

lol.
Well, if you're still looking for a fanfic to use I give you permission to use my Mother of all Mayhem fic. Even now, people from ff.net alone remember it. And if we're using models, it'll save us time since we'd just use and alter Megatron's a bit for his mother

.
(if you picked something else, all well, I tried)
Anyways, it's a great idea to restart this project. I now have a mic so I can
try (as in try when I'm not working) to add some of my voice to it.

mother of all mayham? I never heard of it. Is it about tarantuals? and DB in a tutu sounds like a nasty prank that rattrap just might try to pull off..... *falls off chair* yeah I can imagine him doing that.

I'm not too sure what I could do now, but I did find
this. If you could somehow get a hold of that user for some help, he/she already has (or did have) some models that look pretty darn good.

Nice one Biffy!
That stuff is awesome. OK anyone good friends with weewoo? If not, then I'll get in contact as soon as I get back. That is some really impressive work there. Let's see if we can get those CG models moving around now

Haha! You're back, you flea-infested cur
Ah yes, the project. I'm still very willing to give it one helluva shot, though like Blazemane I'm still at school and can't relocate anywhere but thanks to the aforementioned government institution I can now do a somewhat passable South American drawl because of the school play. So if you're incredibly desperate for a cowgirl/Mrs Dubose (and I can find my voice-recording mp3 and somehow upload the file) I may be able to help out there. Just don't laugh too hard ^^;
And just while we're chucking tidbits around, this is a /very/ awesome (albeit 2D) trailer made with Flash:
Element. Is this the kind of thing you were thinking of with the Botcon example?
Edeet: Just to warn you, there's a bit of animated blood and stuff like that, but it's hardly stuff that'll give you nightmares at night

I'll be back full-time starting August 21st, and my contact until then will likely be sporadic. However, I had been under the impression that rather than using the original characters, we would be working with new characters. Doesn't bother me either way, but from the perspective of one of what looks like only two or three voices, I'd rather not be called upon to fill the shoes of the original cast, although based on conversations with some of you at Botcon, you know I probably could cover a good few of them. All the same, I'd feel better about not trampling on the legacy, all things considered.

You can count me in on this. Once I get back home and return to a stable interwebs connection I'll be glad to help in any way possible including voice acting. I can do a fair few voices, though I have no doubt that there are others that are a zillion times better then me

Good! I like this kind of job, to create a new world, a new vision, a new story, new characters and perhaps bringing some old ones from the past

I don't know exactly what this would be about, but you can count me in
I'll be waiting for more news.
