Botcon 2007

I found out from my South African TF fan/friend that the hotel was booked yesterday and was very shocked. Wow! I was honestly hoping to stay there since the rate seemed so affordable, but I guess not. If Botcon is going to be this big, then hotels in the surrounding area are likely to be booked up pretty soon, too. Beastbot, if you could keep us posted on Brian Savage's hotel-room-rates attempts, that'd be appreciated. I know it still seems early days, but considering how quickly hotels are being booked, I reckon BWint members attending BC this year who'd like to bunk together should probably start making such plans NOW.

Baron, my South African friend Greg is coming to Botcon this year and he asked me if I knew anyone who would be willing to be a roomie with him (us South Africans are poor! Our currency, the Rand, is 8 times weaker than the dollar D: ) I know he's a great guy, so if you (or any of the other guys reading this message) don't mind sharing, let me know and I'll relay the message.

Pretty soon I think I'm gonna start putting together another Botcon mailing list. That might be helpful in terms of organizing such things. Whee, this Botcon is gonna be great! XD

A mailing list sounds like a great idea Sapph. More organization would be more efficiant (did I say that?).

How many hotels are even left?

I think it's smack in the middle of downtown Providence, so there should be several hotels nearby. I think someone at TFW2005 mentioned that there's a big Marriott hotel nearby as well.

Sinead and I are teaming up again for botcon this year. she's been scoping out some hotels in providence that have great rates.

I think I'll be staying for a week up there. Probably/hopefully flying out on Thursday 28th and returning the 5th. I also don't think I'll be getting the primus package.
the only thing that I would want from that would be the dinner and possibly a t-shirt. but I can throw money at one of the other nice people from our group and ask them nicely to get me one as well.

Now, I'm really interested in the sharing of the rooms, would the Westin Providence still be available or should we start looking for other hotels?

WW> The Westin has sold out of Botcon rooms. The botcon folks and our own scouts are looking for other hotels right now.

Hacker> WE can see if you can't get the Minicon package to go with someone else's Primus package. (I think it's about 40 but you get into the dinner.)

The last thing is we need a good restraunt to kidnap...errrr steal...err invite any BW voice actors to this year.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Hammock. Optimus Statue. Its bulletproof. Yeah Sapph, if you're mate is coming and I'm there I'm up for sharing rooms. Gather up a bunch of guys who can rant about BW and we won't get any sleep. There'll be ranting and raving and crazy stories all round. Based on the fickle nature of my plans, its an annoying thing of not being able to pre-plan however I'm willing to crash on someone's floor/couch/statue hammock if need be. MUST... SEE... GIANT... FIGHTING.. ROBOTS!!!

A NEW HOTEL BLOCK IS UP, here's the info from an e-mail mass-mailed to all TF Club members:

We have added a second hotel to the BotCon block. Make your reservations today before this block is gone as well.

The Biltmore is about a block from the RI Convention Center where most all of the BotCon activites will take place.

They have two types of rooms available for you.

The Biltmore King rooms are $124 a night for up to two peopleor a special suite offer of $139. This room has two California Kings and a sitting area. For Biltmore Reservations call 800-294-7709 or 401-421-0700 and ask for the BotCon Westin Overflow Block to receive these rates. Currently there is not a web link available. Picture of the suite is attached. The rates are good from Tuesday to Monday. Third and fourth people in the room are $20 per person per night. You can do room to room
trading in the Biltmore as well.

There may be some more rooms that open up in the Westin block as I think a good number of people will move over to the Biltmore to take advantage of the suites. Use the information for the Westin at BotCon.com.

Great find once again. Will be (trying to) reserve a spot, but I would prefer one or two roomates for this room... please?

I really like that big room rate...139 for four folks to squish into...and a block from the con.

Does that sound at all good to other people who were hoping to share? (if we can get 4 we're looking at about $34.75 a person, 3 people it'd be around $46.34 2 it'd be smarter to get the smaller one.

I'm in for a big one

(and could help out your friend if need be Saph as I'd like to stay fairly close to the con for ease of movement.) Silver are you a 3rd? And if so do we have a fourth? (Would like to reserve a room and need to know what type to get.
