actually the GI Joes had like five females on their team and cobra had like three. Baroness, Zalan, and Pythona.

I believe the girl got credit for it and royalties. I read that information on the transformers wikisite. ^^; so I don't exactly know how reliable that was.

Yes, Aesir, good point.

Back to the original topic at hand...

Yes, I would have loved to see female Decepticons ripping up Autobots :-)

Artemis, LV, please check your in boxes before posting here again.

I think that to some degree, I agree with LV about genders - to a point. In later generations, such as the Maximals and Predacons, contact with organics like humans could have reasonably changed their culture enough that they would emulate genders for the heck of it. However, no, a race that doesn't procreate sexually wouldn't need genders and really shouldn't be expected by us squishies to have them. It's a bias on our part. Since we technically made them though, we can't help but apply it because it's the only thing we as humans know.

Now, think about Cybertronian language. It's more complex than english, and probably has a lot of electronic sounds with a neutral tone. It would only be when speaking a comparatively less complex language like english that they would have to resort to male or female tones and pronouns. Again, then, they really don't need to apply gender to themselves (in their own universe).

Heck, I seem to recall hearing that not all earth languages use pronouns regularly anyways, so why do 'bots have to apply them?

To conclude my little rant, no, I don't think there should be more "femmes." Pink 'bots with female voices when speaking english maybe, but real-for-real femmes with big chest plates and dropping babies left and right, no. It's not logical when you're looking at a cybernetic universe.

Nurann, I'm sorry about that. i'll reframe from that kind of action in the future.

hehehe yeah I get that. I mean female looking robots are okay. I mean robots can't get pregnent to begin with.

Yeah, I'm of the whole "no femmes" opinion. Doesn't make any sense to me, never did. The only time it ever did was how Furman wrote Arcee for IDW, and that was also pretty creepy.

She LOOKED creepy. She looked like she had the brain of a panther or something. O_o

Hehe don't think of them as females. Think of them as.... a different model. XD lol I'm kidding.

I personally can't understand male robots. That doesn't make sense to me. I'm not looking to pick a fight but why should they all be males or at least male looking?

Lady Warrior, maybe it's because we human-types are the only ones with females to have developed big mammary glands. Flat(er) chests are universally more neutral, not male.

Now, if they obviously had male parts sticking out, that would be different. However, flat chest plates does not have to mean male. Even movieverse Arcee doesn't have a big chest plate. It's just not necessary to make someone a femme.

As for why they sound male, again I refer back to our pitifully simple language. They picked a tone that suited them for our language, or maybe even based on the type of tone they heard spoken first. Their voice doesn't make them male or female either, it just gives us that impression.

lol but G1 Prowl looks like he needs a b**. XD sorry but his chest is much bigger than Arcees. Must be the mode he chose.

Sorry about that. Just trying to keep things light. XD

Well they don't need a big chest to be female. Just look at Strika. I thought she was a guy on beast machines until Blackarachnia shouted 'AFTER HER!" and I was thinking. "HER?!" lol seriously. I thought she was a guy.

I got a fembot without a big chest thing. Her name is Echo. If it wasn't for the female looking facial feature she could be mistaken for a guy like my character Shadowstar was.

I don't remember saying anything about how they sound...

No, but it is one of the general traits that we apply to them to make them seem male or female. It's just an additional factor I was referring too, that's all.

ah okay. hehe

But yeah did you mistake Strika for a guy when you first saw her?

I think might had have thought until she first spoke. I figured she was female by the way her voice sounded, when she first spoke. Though back then I think my first though was, "Holy moly, is that really a girl?"

he. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. I mean she doesn't even look remotely female.

Yeah true she didn't. Though I remember I once read somewhere that it was originally intended for Airazor to be a guy, but they decided to make her girl, because Blackarachnia was so popular.

really? I thought she was always a girl. I know they made her male in japan because the japanese thought it would increase toy sales. It didn't work and resulted in awkward situations between Airazor and Tigatron. XD

Yea, there were a few that originally were opposite of genders. Airazor, Nightscream of BM, and I think there were two others...can't remember though.

The toys for Transmutate also state it's a female...though many fans I'm sure debate that in essence of being genderless. Since no real gender noun was associated with Transmutate in the show.
