I've enjoyed the special effects/graphics and sound effects in the TFs movies, and Bumblebee. But that's about it. A movie doesn't have to have a good plot for me to enjoy it, but I do prefer to have character development, which the TFs movies have been lacking of. The Green Mile and The Fifth Element are two of my favorite movies but I also get a kick out of Dumb & Dumber and Napoleon Dynamite. So I'm usually not very picky. I guess it's just neat for me as a TransFan to see TransFormers come to life, so to speak, but I wish it had a stronger story and focused more on the "popular" TransFormers for personality and history development.
While I mildly enjoyed Fifth Element (it was too quirky for me not to love) The rest that you've mentioned annoyed me or just..didn't hold my interest past five minutes.
For me, I need a plot, or I've assumed that the director assumed I'm an idiot that they can shove talentless crap down my throat with and roll in the money later.
Ugh...

While I love deep, intellectual movies, I also need ones that all they do is just really make me laugh. I can't care how dumb they are, I just want to laugh.
sure are cutting is close aren't they? Speed movies don't come out very well.
2011 doesn't sound that bad to me for another Bay TFs movie to come out. After all, they've been doing them in two year increments so far anyway; 2007 and 2009. Now, if they get like the Saw movies where one is made every year before Halloween, then I'd be worried about the quality of the movie.
I agree with OOP in that 2011 isn't a fantastic date in light of the fact that it will be Beast Wars's 15th anniversary and I was hoping that would be the focus of that particular Botcon. It will most likely be completely overshadowed by the film, and that rather sucks because Beast Wars was so much better than the film and 2011 was a Botcon I was going to try to make. :/ Ah, well, we will see.
I could rant about the films... I think I am of the same mind of OOP. Seeing the Transformers in CG pulling their action moves is really cool to watch...but that REALLY is about it for me. I truly wish we'd had more plot and character development. I don't CARE about Sam, I want to learn more about the TFs! But that's another rant for another thread at another time. :p

Should I make a Transformers Movie Rant thread so we all can vent our frustration about the movies because my rant may be very, very long?

Well, a large part of that is budgetary. Even with a $200 million budget for TF2, they still had to reuse some models (like Blackout---> Grindor and the Decepticon protoforms, Bonecrusher), eliminate some stuff like a more elaborate attack on the carrier involving a gigantic Boomer Sub TF, and they used "sleight of hand" tactics for some TFs (Skids, Mudflap) so you never actually saw them transform. Keeping the TFs on screen much more than they were in TF2 is pretty much out of the question, they're just too expensive. I mean, heck, watching Devastator I could just FEEL the millions being burned away with each second.

Alas Hollywood is crap these days. I've seen better independent movies then anything made since 1999. For instance Port Washington and Possumus woman.. http://benheck.com/movies
Everything is just reality tv shows that are not reality and movies written by people on drugs but without litterateur skills or originality.. Maybe they're not on drugs?!
I would reply to you on that front, Beastbot, but methinks a rant thread in the rant section would be better for that. :p I may get 'round to starting one but if not anyone else who wants to vent all their frustrations about the movie, feel free to start a thread for exclusively that, so we critics don't keep raining on everyone's parade (each time the movie gets mentioned, some of us whine, which mus get pretty annoying to the fans!) So yeah, one thread for that would be best.
Well, that's poopie. Heh heh. Does that mean they're gong to have the BotCon revolving around the movies again? Because 2011 is BW 15th Anniversary, and I'd much rather see more BW voices there than anything for the 3rd movie.
Oh OOP that's right, hopefully BW will have it's time to shine, for the most part. I really hope they can get some BW VA's there.
#runs in way too late after the post# So did I miss anything?...

Ahhh slag!
Well, there are always plans within the plans and there are many possibilities for 2011. I definitely wanted a Beast Wars Botcon, however I also wanted a movie Botcon to line up with an actual movie release date. Even though we got the sneak peak this year, it wasn't anywhere near as cool as watching the movie with a cinema PACKED full of Transformers fans and cheering (regardless of how bad the movie was ). I guess if I had to choose though, I'd much rather rock out with Dave, Garry and Scott over the movie guys so I'd place my vote there
Well, this is very interesting and I'll have to see what eventuates from here because I had planned to do the BWint craziness for 2011 with the BW Botcon and then rally an Aussie horde for 2012 in time for the next movie so now I'm not sure what to do. Well, we'll let it play out and see where the dice land
what else do you need? oh and Megatron... or should I say Sharkface? what were they thinking? XD
If you kept Optimus Prime and Megatron and got rid of the rest of the people, backgrounds, bots, bionicle rejects, and annoying collage age kids you would have a winner.

If they do try, it's going to be hard but it might just be worth it.
That would be awesome! My mom and I think it would be a good idea for a space battle. Autobots and Decepticons vs. the humogous planet eater!
I even thought of an interesting concept for this type of plot. If they go with comic continuity again, they could even use Primus(who is Cybertron) to defeat his evil twin brother. As everyone is fighting Unicron keeping him from devouring Earth, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and perhaps even Sam and Mikeala go to Cybertron to awaken Primus from his slumber.
My mind is rolling with ideas. They could even introduce Ultra Magnus, Blurr, Hot Rod, and Springer by having they crash land on Earth in a ship and they could be the ones who tell them of Unicron's arrival.
It's very interesting but I know this will probably be expensive and complicated. They probably won't try it but dang! It would be awesome.
