The Semi-Final matches in the Armada-&-Energon Tag Team Tournament are now over, with the two winners to face each other in the Championship Finals in one week's time. The results of these two matches were about as far apart as you can get; one was a complete one-sided domination, while the other was a back-and-forth war of attrition that could have either team coming out with the right amount of luck.
With that pre-amble said... here are our winners!
Match 13: Bruticus Maximus & Constructicon Maximus (Energon) vs. Thrust & Sideways (Armada)
This match could prove rather fascinating to watch; the tall Combiners versus the servants of Unicron, one of whom believed to be an avatar of the Chaos Bringer himself. Could the multi-body powers of the Maximus duo endure the emissaries of Unicron, or would the Dark God's power combined with stealth and covert work be too overwhelming for anyone to match? As it turned out, despite Sideways' advantage with his Unicron connection, it wasn't necessarily being connected to Unicron that could get him the win... but just how much of his power he had. In the end, he didn't have enough to help his team. "The only way Thrust and Sideways could win this is if Sideways actually had Unicron's planet munching/upgrading power. But he doesn't," wrote Megaru of The Underground Hangar. With 91% of the vote, Bruticus Maximus & Constructicon Maximus crushed Thrust & Sideways, as the only surviving Energon team in the Tournament continue to barrel along their own path to the Finals, paved with the bodies of their destroyed victims.

Match 14: Optimus Prime & Jetfire (Armada) vs. Megatron & Tidal Wave (Armada)
Usually, one would expect a battle with characters of this magnitude to be the final deciding factor of a series' story. As it is, they must settle for delivering a thrilling Semi-Final encounter that promised to be the closest match of the tournament so far... and delivered, with the winner barely eking out a 54% win! The powers of these two team were so impressively massive, it could have easily gone to a tie (which it did at several points in the voting). Both teams were so evenly matched in physical strength. Jetfire's ability to fly, along with the "Jet Optimus" mode from combining with Optimus gave the Autobots a speed and maneuverability advantage to bolster their own physical might. On the other hand, Tidal Wave's sheer size, his own flight ability (though not as agile), his body-split "Dark Fleet" mode, and almost-impervious armor provided Megatron with even greater power, despite Tidal Wave's notorious lack of intelligence. The only way for either one team to come out the victor would be to simply outlast the other. With the last few hours before the deadline, a winner came through... as we now look forward to an all-Decepticons confrontation in the Championship Finals next week!
