COLD!! OH SO VERY COLD!!

Unread post by SilverfromOZ »

Well here I am in New York using a laptop borrowed from an Israeli guy named Yemen. We don't know if this is stealing internet from someone the important thing is we don't care. I think I may have mentioned that its cold. Let me mention it again ITS COLD!!!! Walked out of the airport with jacket open and billowy macho-ness then was hit square in the chest with a large gust of wind which both knocked me about and froze my internals in seconds. Fun stuff. The day was full of roaming (meaning run for 5 shops and leap into the next one to defrost and continue) and lots of shopping. NY is a very self-indulgent place so I think my Taurean nature is quite pleased. Currently lying on bed 12 (top bunk near the window) contemplating the spoils of today. Rallying myself to face the cold again so that I can hunt for a bar or some such place. Lets see how we go. Peh adventure, excitement, a Jedi craves not these things. Its a good thing I'm no Jedi.
It's ok sir. I'll be fine...

Just listen to your commander, bonebrain!

Hey, you're in NY! Come on down to PA! ...It's warmer... *shifty eyes* Okay, not really. XD Wind chills the past few days have been from -5 to -10ºF. It's wickedly cold! And yet, hardly any snow. :x And the highs have only been in the teens. It's quite odd going from 70ºF in early January to single digits and below zero in early February. Bitterly cold. I hope you packed warmer clothes, Silver! It's going to be this cold for quite a while it seems. x.X *shivers*

I'm glad my car starts at 6:30 in the morning. I probably just jinxed myself. XD

Have fun in NY! :D

Ha, man, welcome to the Northern hemisphere! I must admit I cracked up when I read that line I quoted above-- partly because I'm up in Canehdialand [where it was -35 F the other morning, I almost lost my eyelids to the wind I swear] and sometimes we evil Canehdians feel an overwhelming desire to chuckle at coldness n00bs, but partly also in an I-feel-your-pain kind of way, because even after living where I am for 14 years, I still have moments where I run outside without gloves on or try to stride down the sidewalk with my jacket open to the wind oh-so-majestically-- And I certainly know the trepidation borne by one who has to face the brutal night wind in the aim of hitting the local bars and pubs. Mind you, I'm a complete twit who has no sense whatsoever =D

That being said, I give you a humble salute as I have a great amount of respect for any crazy adventurer out there. Speaking of which, hopefully I will be in England mid-march m'self, so if you see any lanky wild-eyed goths running around London braving hale and gale to get to the nearest pub, be sure to wave at 'em-- odds are it could be yours truly : P

*nods* Yep. Gotta love Canada in February. It was -30 here yesterday. Nice an' balmy -21 today with the wind chill. It's funny 'cause it's normally kinda warm here in Windsor, whereas my 'home' home back...home, is always in the 'big' negatives like -30 and -25. And I'm laughin' cause in Kingston, my family's buried under tonnes of what they call "lake effect" snow. Okay, not laughin'...more like feelin' bad cause no matter how cold it is, I don't gotta suffer shoveling the driveway every day. Gotta love livin' surrounded by five ginormous lakes....

In other words, I'm orderin' Swiss Chalet on my student card every night so I don't have to walk across campus to eat. Hehehe...

A lil' early for BotCon, don'cha think? ;) :P

Still, have fun in New York! It's a fun place, despite all the things that the movies tell ya about it being the worst place in the world.

Yeah.
Is the answer to this question "No"?

That's the temperature we had this morning... WITHOUT wind! ...And my home is in Southern Finland, which is at the same level with Northern Scotland.

Now it's... wait a sec... a nice -13. Without wind, again.

I shudder to think what the temp would be IF the wind blew.

 ...Now that wasn't nice.

Btw, do you know what "black ice" is? I almost slipped due to it today. ><

I SERIOUSLY hate winter. With a passion. Give me an early spring day or a nice windy autumn day anytime, and I'll be in Heaven. But give me a cold winter day or a hot summer day, and I'm in H*ll.

Wikipedia's Definition:
Black ice is ice that is transparent. It has different meanings depending on context, but is most often used to refer to highway ice that increases the risk of accidents.
This outta help out. Plus, it would make a great name for a Beast Wars Character. :-D

I'm picturing Tigertron with an afro. OHHHHH YEAAAHH!!

Yes thats right I have located a partially stable internet connection for the moment. So I will used this opportunity to dispense information which will most likely raise only more questions and confuse the lot of you.

First things first. Hi OOP. It is very tempting to come down but I'm not sure if my timetable permits. I'm off to Boston to use it as a base of operations for my attack Hasbro plan. Then I have to return the Mustang by Tuesday and fly to Florida by Wednesday... hmmm... that may leave a night free to travel to another state and then I can get a last minute ticket from there. By god I'm insane. OK if anyone is interested in me visiting then send me a PM with a contact number (preferrably a cell phone) and I'll try and get in touch and work out a plan. Fun fun fun. Hell if anyone's interested I'm not really doing much tonight. But it may be too last minute. Oh well me and planning. We all understand how that works and the answer is not very well.

Crab never speak those words in my presence ever again!! Botcon is no mere event Botcon is our lives. Why even in the room now you can feel the presence #insert rant and rave of pointless things here# :D

OK time is running out so I gotta go. Talk to ya'll soon :D

Yeeee-owch! Normally I love winter and all the coldness that ensues. But over here in the midwest there has been far too much cold and I am sick of it. I can only imagine how it must be like over there, where its colder...

No wait. I can't. Best of luck man! Watch out for ice!

Roar of Motor. Glint of chrone. Beat from speakers. Yes I have a Mustang. Yes it does rock. And what colour do you rocken I ended up with? That's right. You guessed it. Silver. :D

So I'm now at my cousin's place in Boston crashing there for the next two days and initiating operation Hasbro. Finger crossed and whatnot.

I have a US cell phone and the number is 347 221 3968 if anyone wants to call and try to arrange something.

Have fun guys and I'll post again soon.

Heh, welcome to New York State my friend. It was so cold the other morning I couldn't feel my hands, or my face after the short walk from the parking lot to school.

Now if only we could get more snow...

Are you still stopping at Disney down in Florida, or are you going to Universal Studios?

If you get a strange phone message from someone named Mr. Smith, demanding cookies, or else he shall direct passive aggressive malevolence in your direction... I may or may not have had something to do with it...

Ohhh... well so long as you have discarded your earpiece and gained independance from the Matrix laws then I'll gladly meet you in an abandoned square and have an awesome kung fu fight.

As for the theme parks I am uncertain thus far. My plans are hugely fickle and require the right person making a suggestion to me and I'll head in that direction. I'm now returning the Mustang to NY tomorrow and flying over to Fort Myers to being the warm leg of my trip. More updates to follow. :D
