A lurker is someone who is on the forum but doesn't post a lot, if ever to any of the topics. Therefore, the person is 'lurking' on the forum.

Really we only worry about lurkers for security reasons. If you've made a post on the forums before, you don't need to let us know you're not a 'bot. We know. We just care if it's a dead account with zero posts for a year or more, in which case it's a hacking threat. Having one introductory post is the proverbial red paint on the door that lets admins pass over your account if we're doing a quick clean-up.
