What if Dinobot remained a Predacon?
This may sound wierd, but what would happen if Dinobot was still a pred through season one and two? I was thinking that he'd be kind of like Terrasaur, but minus the insanity and replace it with honour.

I completely agree with that one. Without Dinobot the Maximals were practically a group of lost robots who barely knew how to fire a gun properly. *points directly at cheetor* I'm talking to you wide shooter.Wistwin wrote:If Dinobot had remained a Predacon, I think the Predacons could have won.

Everytime I think that,I couldn't help but agree with what his first clone said'What you''ve could have been',but,I still think that the results would be the same for his Fate.He would start betraying his leader in Season II starting with the Golden Disks, then, after being founded out, might get destroyed, but if DB is smart enough,he would have fled and went to the Maximals...or,decided to hide his motives like BA and Tarry, analyzing his motives until it is the right time to betray him,or,to die in a fight alone.

I always loved Dinobot's advice everytime Optimus asked...
"Full frontal assault. NOW!"
"DESTROY THEM!"
"Now...while they are WEAK!!"
Okay, the last one was him just shooting at Waspinator and Terrorsaur, but you get the idea.
My opinion? If Dinobot had taken over the Maximals would've been crushed by the genius strategic, tactical, and less we forget, sheer brutality of Dinobot's plans. He wasn't out to change history like Megatron. He had no idea they were on Earth, and would've focused sheerly on energon and the annihilation of the Maximals. Following (or during said annihilation) Terrorsaur, Tarantulas and Black Arachnia would've been scrapped for their treachery (since Megatron had to have died if Dinobot were in command).
Ohhh I can see it now...
"Insolent bug...STOP CALLING ME THAT!"
"At once my Que--" *gets stabbed*...*Inferno thinks he's been presented a gift with the stabbing*
Come ONNNNNNNNNNNNNN. Inferno x Dinobot tag team = The Unstoppable Combo.

I think so, yes. Before he had no problem with the concept of scrapping Megatron/Optimus to take command of either faction, so long as it wasn't done in a dishonorable fashion. Same applies if he were leader of the Predacons. So long as the Maximals were killed honorably, he would've had no qualms with Predacon victory.
Near the end he didn't have the heart (errrr...bad phrase. whatever) to finish off Quickstrike. Nothing against Quickstrike, just stating an example...

I reckon the Preds would have won, depending on how much Megatron listened to Dinobot.
Heck, if 'ol chopperface had his way, the Beast Wars would have been over in the first episode, as instead of "tormenting" the Maximals like Megatron wanted, he would have destroyed them whilst their shields were down.
But that wouldn't make a good episode now would it.

You JUST made it within the one month no-posting thing! XD And I haven't been around so I didn't see this! *le GASP*
Having studied Dinobot extensively when I was younger in order to write him as best I could (which while looking back, wasn't that great after all), I would have to agree with all of the statements above. Dinobot was brutal, mean, sarcastic and often-times over-the-top with how blunt his plans were to maneuver things to favor him as an individual, and sometimes the Maximal team. Those traits would have (and presumably once had) served him well on the Predacon side of the fight, and if he didn't die when he did, then I would have to assume that he would have made it to season three, and probably would have defected at that point.
In my own opinion, Dinobot was the warroir's soul of the Maximal team, and was often the one driving events along. While Optimus had been an impromptu and yet quite capable leader, Dinobot was the one who had the most natural leadership skills. I highly doubt that he would have exhibited such traits while under Megatron, preferring to do more sneaking around than Tarantulus to get things done right.

If he were to live through Season Three,we would see a great turn-around for him to become a wise leader...with some of older traits intact.
I felt that there is a lot more left to be done for him before he died.I would love to see him become a full-round character, even finally explaining his relationship with his former commander that has baffled us for more than 10 years. @_@

*snaps fingers, laughing, and pointing to the screen* YES!
Dinobot and Megatron were two totally opposite characters, and it's always bugged me that there was never any explaination for them being put together in a team! There wasn't even one hint thrown out to us as to their past together, while for those on the Axalon, you knew that they had worked together before on various projects.
And now you're giving me ideas for new Dinobot fics. And I thought that I had exhausted that subject. XD

It was seriously hinted that those two have a past together.I did an analysis on it a while ago and still cotinue as soon as I watch Season Three again. It can be seen in Beast Wars Part I and Maximal No More.Just watch Megatron's interaction with Dinobot, since his conversations with him have a more informal feel compared to Megatron adressing his subordinates. The Theft of The Golden Disk helped,to some degree.
How long they were together, that I don't know, but I felt the Cryotek had a connection to how the two met and teamed up.

Interesting thread, however here's some additional food for thought. Look at the season 1 Pred team and you have Dinobot (for the sake of this argument), Terrorsaur, Tarantulas, Blackarachnia and Waspinator. The only one of the group who was blindly loyal to Megs was Scorpinok (yes even WASPY had delusions of grandeur). Now if you look at the group dynamic, Terrorsaur was a bit more "Starscreamy" with the obvious whining about how he should be leader, however he always lacked cunning. Tarantulas had the cunning but was quite mad and thus unstable. Waspinator couldn't... well let's just say he was no real threat at all and Blackarachnia had all the right traits, however being fairly new on the block (and soon to be very distracted #cue shot of grinning Silverbolt#) she had alot of ground to cover to make any real impact. Now add Dinobot into the mix. Strong, cunning, ambitious and reasonably tactical. That means Megs REALLY has to keep his pieces in line. Now Megs may have been up to the job, however it may have in fact worked in his favour to get Dinobot out of his command. Remember he turned to the Maximal side because of his hunger for power and glory but it was only through his interactions with them that his honourable side began to surface. Perhaps the moment on the bridge where he saves Optimus because it lacked honour was the first time he could show it because in the Predacon circles, he would be cast out or terminated for showing weakness.
Just some additional food for thought (besides I wanted to see if I could come up with a reason against this thread. I'm pretty happy with that
