Strange Alliances

Chapter 1

By: Darkfire75

Author’s note: Hey everyone. I’m back with a new crossover. For those who watch Yu-Gi-Oh and are crazy about it, like me, this is a crossover with Beast Wars. It’s not your average crossover. Those who don’t really understand Yu-Gi-Oh, this is kind of a spoiler if you ever do decide to start liking it. Also, I’m using the Japanese names for the characters, but they have the same voices. Except Malik’s voice. I dislike his dub voice and I rather prefer his original Japanese one. If you wanna hear it, go to Ryou’s Sanctuary. There’s a link there called Multimedia. They have voice recordings of some of the episodes from the Japanese version. You can also here Yugi’s, Yami’s, Bakura’s, Ryou’s, and Ishtar’s voices there as well. And btw, Ryou’s name according to some people is pronounced (Re-o or Re-u), but I like pronouncing it (Ry-o or Ry-u). Choose whichever way you want. Anyway, enough of my babble. On with the story!

"Oh no, I’m going to be late for school!" a boy of about fifteen cried. He had long white hair cascading down his back and chocolate brown eyes. "Yami, why didn’t you wake me up?!"

There was a boy standing in the kitchen that looked exactly like him, but he had longer, spikier white hair and narrowed brown eyes. He simply shrugged and said, "I didn’t feel like it."

The other boy groaned as he shoved a piece of toast into his mouth, grabbed his backpack, and hurried out the door. He tucked a gold necklace into his uniform. My teacher is going to kill me, he thought desperately as he ran the entire way. He saw one of his friends also walking to school.

"Malik!" he shouted and his friend turned around.

"What’s up, Ryou?" the boy called Malik replied. He had light blonde hair, tan skin, and unnatural lavender-colored eyes. His school uniform was unbuttoned.

"Yami forgot to wake me up again," Ryou panted. "I swear I’ll get him for this. I don’t know how, but I will."

Malik laughed. "I doubt that. You couldn’t hurt a flea."

"Shut up. Your yami is much worse than Bakura."

"I know that. But Ishtar hasn’t shown himself since Battle City, so I say I’ve lived perfectly fine without him."

Ryou smiled slightly. "If he heard you say that, he’d kill you in an instant."

Malik winced and nodded his head. "I wouldn’t put it past him. By the way, have you started getting weird vibes from your Millenium item lately? The Millenium Rod was acting very strangely yesterday."

"How so?"

"It was glowing a lot. Really freaked me out."

"Hmm…we’ll have to speak to Yugi about this. He might know."

"What makes you think he would?" the blonde Egyptian growled while crossing his arms. "Just because he’s the reincarnation of the pharaoh, doesn’t mean he knows everything."

"Have some faith, Malik. Yugi isn’t bad."

"Yeah, whatever." Just as they were entering the school parking lot, they heard the school bell ring loudly. They glanced at each other and cried, "We’re late!" and hurried to get inside the building before any teachers saw them.

***

"Optimus, there’s something odd going on with the scanners," Rhinox stated. "They’re picking up some strange energy signatures, but I can’t pinpoint where exactly. It looks like it might be in Sector Toma, but I could be wrong."

"How strong is the signal?" Optimus asked curiously.

"Pretty strong. It’s coming from three directions."

"Hmm, better send Cheetor out to investigate. Keep me posted."

"Will do."

***

"You’re late, boys," said the principal as he glared down at Malik and Ryou. They sheepishly looked back up at him.

"Yes, but we didn’t plan on it," Malik replied smiling.

"Detention for you both. Get to class."

"Yes, sir," they groaned as they trudged off to their first class.

"My father’s going to kill me," Ryou complained with his head down. "I’ve never gotten detention before."

"You’re lucky Bakura isn’t here. Otherwise, he might have strangled Mr. Okumura," Malik commented.

"That’s true."

They slowly entered the classroom. The teacher glared at them as they walked inside and took their seats in the back row. Yugi leaned over and said, "Where were you guys?"

"Taking a lunch break," Malik said sarcastically. "What do you think, Yugi?"

"Sorry. Everyone was worried about you guys."

"Everyone? Or just you?"

Yugi put a hand behind his head. "C’mon, get off my case. It’s Monday. I have a right to be worried, don’t I?" He then lowered his voice and said, "You guys haven’t been experiencing anything odd with your Millenium items, have you?"

"Why? What’s happening to your Puzzle?"

"It was glowing this morning."

"Yours was glowing too?" Malik gasped. "So I wasn’t hallucinating."

"Why is that your Millenium items are acting up, but mine isn’t?" Ryou asked angrily.

"Maybe yours is a dud," Malik suggested. Ryou gave him a glare, which was unusual for him. "Just kidding, pal," the blonde said defensively. "But it does seem odd. That mine and Yugi’s would act up, but yours wouldn’t. Maybe it was acting up this morning, but Bakura never told you."

"Maybe…" he trailed off. "But he’s supposed to warn me about strange stuff like this!"

"Ask him when you get home," Yugi replied.

Ryou nodded his head. "In the mean time, we should concentrate on school work."

"Why? We’re never gonna need this crap in the future," Malik snapped.

"He’s right," Yugi agreed.

"I give up," Ryou sighed.

***

"The signal’s getting bigger!" Rhinox gasped. Rattrap, Optimus, and Dinobot hurried over to look over his shoulder. "Look at it! It’s getting stronger by the minute!"

"What could be causing this?" Optimus mumbled. "Are the Predacons doing something?"

"I doubt it," Dinobot snarled. "They wouldn’t have the brains to conduct something this strong. It might be the aliens again."

"No, these aren’t alien signals," Rhinox interrupted. "These are different. Like they’re from another world or something."

"Well, whatever it is, we’ll be ready for it when it comes," Optimus stated. "Dinobot, perhaps you should accompany Cheetor on scout patrol. He might need it if he comes across anything unusual."

The raptor-bot looked like he was about to object, but he nodded anyway and transformed into beast mode. He took the main lift down to the ground and hurried off the Sector Toma.

"I only pray that whatever it is that’s causing these strange signals, is friendly," Optimus whispered.

***

"You stupid tomb robber! You’ll pay for that remark!" Yami shouted chasing around Bakura. Malik, Ryou, Yugi, Yami, and Bakura were all gathered at Malik’s house. He had said it would be perfect to talk about the Millenium items at his house because his sister and Rishid wouldn’t bother them.

At the present time, Bakura had made a rude comment about Yami and the former pharaoh was not happy with him. "Guys, would you calm down?" Malik snapped.

Bakura looked ready to kill. Yami had his hands clenched but he took a seat by Yugi anyway. "Now, we’re all here to discuss the strange things happening to the Millenium items," Malik said. "Bakura, did anything strange happen to the Millenium Ring?"

"Why should I tell you?" spat the tomb robber. "I could easily slit your throat. I don’t need to tell you anything."

"Yami, just tell him," Ryou pleaded. "Please."

His darker half looked at him almost disgustedly but nodded. "All right. If you really want to know, it was glowing and shaking rather violently this morning. It was as if it could sense something supernatural."

"That is odd," Yugi said thoughtfully. "I just don’t understand why they’d start acting up now. After everything that’s happened, I just don’t get it."

"Humph, and he’s supposed to be the King of Games," Bakura scoffed.

Yami growled and stood up. "One more remark out of you, and I’ll Mind Crush you."

"Touch me, and your soul is on its way to the Shadow Realm."

"Must I hit one of you with the Rod?" Malik snapped brandishing his Millenium Rod. The Eye of Ra on the front all of a sudden began to glow. "Huh? What the—?"

"The Puzzle’s glowing too!" Yugi gasped holding up his item.

"So is the Millenium Ring!" Ryou added. "What does this mean?"

"Nothing good!" Malik replied. They were all engulfed in white light and suddenly vanished from the room.

***

Cheetor and Dinobot had been searching the sector for what felt like hours to them, but they still hadn’t found anything. This is pointless, Dinobot thought angrily. I could be doing something better with my time.

Thunder from the sky interrupted his thoughts. The sky all of a sudden became dark and cloudy. A black hold emerged from it and three bodies fell in different directions. "That doesn’t look good," Cheetor commented. "Maybe that’s the signal Big Green was getting on the scanners."

"Maybe, but—" Dinobot stopped his sentence when he heard a soft moan to his far right. He looked at the transmetal. "Let’s find out what that was," he stated.

"Right." They hurried to where they heard the groan. Dinobot knew humans were supposed to be evolving in their current time area, but this creature looked like a fully evolved human from the Great War. To him, this human looked feminine. She had long, slightly spiky white hair and pale skin. She was wearing a blue jacket, a striped shirt, and beige pants. A gold necklace hung from her neck. "A human!" Cheetor gasped. "Ultra gear!"

"Silence, feline," Dinobot snapped. "Be cautious. It could be dangerous."

The human slowly lifted itself off the ground. Dinobot saws its eyes. They were a deep chocolate brown color. If there were one word to describe this human, it would be an angel. This human looked like one of those angels that humans believed in.

"Excuse me," Dinobot said breaking the silence. "Who are you and how did you get here?"

"I honestly don’t know," the human replied in a soft, male British voice. "But my name is Ryou Bakura. And—wait, where are the others? Did you find two others around here? One with light blonde hair and the other with spiky tricolored hair?"

"No," Cheetor replied. "Are you that strange signal that we’ve been receiving?"

"I’m not sure. One minute, I was sitting at my friend’s house, the next I appeared here." He stood up and dusted himself off. "I suppose you are stunned at my appearance. I can tell you are not used to seeing humans drop out of the sky like that."

"Actually, we’re not used to see humans, period," Cheetor stated. "So…where do you live?"

"No where that you’ve heard of, I’m sure. It’s a place called Domino City."

"Nope, never heard of it."

Ryou smiled at them. "I didn’t think so. Do you both have a residence that I can stay until I can find my friends?"

"Yeah. Follow us." Dinobot looked skeptically at the boy with white hair. This human had the actually nerve of asking to stay with them after falling from the sky? He seemed innocent, but appearances could be deceiving.

"Oh yes, I nearly forgot to tell you," Ryou said suddenly. "I may experience some mood changes from time to time so don’t worry."

[Smart thinking, hikari], Bakura said through their mind link. [You’ll need to warn them about me. I might just ‘accidentally’ slice one of their necks sometime…]

[Please don’t harm them, Yami], Ryou pleaded.

"Oh, we never gave you our names," Cheetor said. "I’m Cheetor and this is Dinobot. We’re part of a faction called the Maximals."

"It’s a pleasure meeting you both," Ryou answered politely. I hope the other two are all right…he thought.

***

"Ow! Dammit, that hurt!" Malik cursed when he hit the ground. He picked himself off the ground and looked around at his surroundings. There were volcanoes everywhere. "Whoa, I think it’s safe to say I’m not in Domino anymore."

"Got that right, human!" cackled a voice from behind him. Malik nearly died of shock when he saw the metal spider standing before him. It transformed into a humanoid robot and aimed a gun at him. "Say goodbye!"

"Stop!" said a new voice. A large red ant came scurrying up to the spider. "The Royalty commands this human’s presence inside the Colony!"

"Who cares?"

"You will not disobey the Queen!"

Queen? Royalty? Colony? Malik thought. Where the hell am I?

"All right," the spider sighed putting away his gun. He roughly reached out a clawed hand and grabbed Malik’s arm. Malik struggled, but he could barely move his arm, let alone reach for the Millenium Rod. All he could do was hope to Ra that these robots weren’t planning on killing him.

When they entered the so-called ‘Colony’, Malik saw computers everywhere, along with a whole lot of lava. They entered a room where a large robot sat in a chair. "Ah, what have you brought with you, Inferno?" the robot smirked.

"Tarantulas found a human, my Queen," the one called Inferno said bowing.

Malik sweat dropped and mumbled under his breath, "What a mindless drone."

"What did you say, human?!" snapped the much large robot sitting in the chair. "My name is Megatron, leader of the Predacons. State your name and your reason for being here."

"What makes you think I’d tell you my name, Barney?" Malik spat. Inferno smacked his face hard. A bloody gash formed on the Egyptian’s face. Malik gritted his teeth.

"I suggest you tell me your name, or you will suffer greatly," Megatron said sweetly.

"My name is none of your concern. You will not live long enough to remember it!"

"You actually think you can kill me?" the tyrant chuckled. "Oh, I do like you, human. But it would be so much better if I could call you by your name before I dispose of you."

"My name is Malik Ishtar. I honestly don’t know how I came here. I simply fell from the sky and I can tell you it wasn’t a fun trip either."

"Malik Ishtar, eh? Such an odd name for such an odd human. But you’re no ordinary human, are you?" Megatron said thoughtfully. "No, I can see power within you. You’ve cheated death quite a few times, am I right?"

"What’s it to you?"

"My dear Malik, I must know quite a bit about my opponent before I finish him off."

"Who says I’m gonna let you do that?" He broke free of Tarantulas’ grip and took out his Millenium Rod. "You see this? It’s called a Millenium item and it allows me to do some…interesting things." Megatron laughed coldly, but the next thing he knew, he felt himself standing up from his chair and slowly walking towards the boiling lava.

"W-What are you doing?! Stop!" he cried frantically.

Malik chuckled evilly. "You see what power I hold? My Millenium Rod allows me to control the minds of others. I can manipulate anyone I please. And don’t get any ideas, this item only responds to me and me alone. Even if you destroy it, you’ll have to deal with my yami’s rage. And I can guarantee you don’t want that. He’d destroy this entire planet if he could."

Megatron was shaking uncontrollably. "You’re a manipulative little human, aren’t you?" he snarled. "I’ll have to keep a close eye on you."

"Yeah, you do that," Malik sneered. "Now excuse me, but I’d like to find my friends." And with that, he walked out of the base arrogantly.

"That brat will pay!" Megatron growled clenching his fists.

***

"I wish I knew where I was," Yugi said to himself. He had fallen only a little while before and he was completely lost. He had apparently landed in a forest region. "I wonder if anyone lives here."

[This is all the tomb robber’s fault], Yami said suddenly through their mind link.

[Yami, you blame everything on Bakura. Why is it always his fault?] Yugi asked.

[Because it usually is.]

The tricolor haired boy shook his head. He suddenly heard movement. "W-Who’s there?" he asked fearfully.

"Obviously someone you weren’t expecting," said a calm, male voice. A wolf stepped out of the shadows. Only it wasn’t all wolf. It was half eagle too. "Forgive my intrusion. My name is Silverbolt."

"I’m Yugi Muto. I kinda fell from the sky," he replied. He was stunned at Silverbolt’s appearance. He had never seen a fused animal before.

"I believe there is a friend of yours at my base. My leader just informed me to look out for two other humans. You happen to fit the description of the one I was supposed to be looking for."

"Which one of my friends is at your base? What’s he look like?"

"Um…I believe he has white hair and brown eyes."

"Ryou…" Yugi muttered. "And you haven’t found the other yet?"

"No, sadly. Would you like me to give you a ride to the base?"

"Yes, I’d like that. Thank you."

"You’re welcome." Yugi climbed onto Silverbolt’s back and held on tightly.

***

"So ya just found ‘im?" Rattrap said to Cheetor. He was regarding Ryou oddly. He had never seen a human like him before.

"Yeah. He said he fell from the sky," the transmetal cheetah replied.

"I dunno. Sounds pretty fishy to me."

"Everything sounds weird to you, vermin," Dinobot snapped.

Ryou was confused with everything. But most importantly, he wanted to see his friends. He felt lonely without them. All of a sudden, the main lift began moving and two people stepped out of it. The strange fuzor that Ryou had seen before and Yugi.

"Yugi!" Ryou gasped happily. He couldn’t remember the last time he had been so happy to see someone. Whenever he was with Bakura or Malik, he usually was in a depressed mood. But Yugi helped him gain friends instead of losing them. So, naturally, he was glad to see the short, tricolor haired boy.

"Calm down, Ryou," Yugi said, a blush forming his cheeks. A bead of sweat rolled down his face. The robots around them were staring at him in awe. It’s probably because of my hair, he thought irritably. Whenever he met someone, their first impression of him when they saw him was ‘little punk.’ And by the way he was dressed, he couldn’t blame them. He was wearing his black sleeveless shirt, leather pants, choker, and his belts. The Millenium item hung loosely from his neck. "Um…hi. My name is Yugi Muto," he said softly.

"Is this one of your friends, Ryou?" Optimus asked.

"Yes," he replied. "The other one is still out there and who knows what he could be up to…" He caught Yugi’s eye and grinned.

"I’m still confused," Rattrap said aloud. "I just don’t get how two fully evolved humans can just fall outta da sky like a couple a’ raindrops."

"Yeah, that’s been bugging me too," Yugi stated. He turned to Ryou. "Do you have any idea what happened? I remember our Millenium items glowing and then we arrived here."

"No, I can’t remember very much. If I knew where Malik was, I’d ask him, but…seeing as he isn’t here…" Ryou trailed off.

"This ‘Malik’ that you mentioned," Dinobot began, "what does he look like? Perhaps I can go out a look for him."

"Good luck finding him," Yugi said. "He’s more stubborn than a mule and he doesn’t like to be told what to do. Piss him off, and you’re looking at your executioner."

A grin came to Dinobot’s lips. "He and I will get along perfectly fine then," he snarled and transformed to beast mode, startling Yugi who only reached to Dinobot’s knee joint in robot mode. The raptor took the main lift to the ground.

"You’ll get used to the surroundings," Ryou informed his friend.

"Uh…yeah, sure," Yugi agreed, somewhat skeptically. "I’m a little lost though. Why would the items bring us to a time before humans even existed? I mean, why couldn’t they have just brought us to ancient Egypt and…nevermind," he added seeing the Maximals glance at him curiously. He blushed furiously.

"Don’t mind him," Ryou smiled. "He can occasionally run at the mouth."

"Thanks a lot," Yugi grumbled.

The white-haired boy smiled sheepishly at him and put a hand behind his head out of his discomfort. "Would you guys like a room to stay in?" Optimus asked them.

"Yes, if it’s not too much trouble," Ryou replied.

"Not at all. Rattrap, why don’t you show them down the hallway? There should be an extra room big enough for three guests."

"Sure thing, Boss Monkey. C’mon guys, let’s get goin’," the transmetal rat stated. Both Ryou and Yugi followed after him. Ryou was just barely Rattrap’s height. He stared curiously around the metal base and found that the technology here was amazing. They finally came to an empty room. "Dere it is," Rattrap said. "Not exactly the brightest room in da base, but it’s got a great view a’ da sky."

"Thank you very much," Ryou said politely.

"Ah, it was nuthin’," the transmetal replied refusing to blush at the human’s sincerity. "I’ll see ya around da base." He walked away.

Yugi curiously poked his head inside their new room. "Wow, it’s huge," he gasped. "You could fit maybe five duel arenas in here."

His friend chuckled. "You only say that because it looks big to you," he said. "To me, it’s just slightly larger than a normal room."

"Yeah, well…to each his own opinion."

"I only hope that Malik isn’t trying to destroy everything on this planet."

"Me too. He’s probably lost somewhere, knowing him."

"What if Ishtar takes him over?"

Yugi paled. "Let’s try not to think about that right now," he said quietly. "Did you warn them about Bakura?"

"I mentioned that I would have occasional ‘mood changes.’"

"That’s understandable. But I think they’d realize if he killed someone. I don’t think they’d classify that as a ‘mood change.’"

"No, you’re right. But…I had to say something so not to make them suspicious."

"Suspicious of what?"

"Of us. We’re not exactly normal, Yugi. Far from it."

Yugi grinned. "I know that. Sometimes I wish I was just a normal teenager, with normal everyday teenage problems. But I can’t change what fate has bestowed upon me." He sighed heavily as he felt the Puzzle around his neck. "Hopefully Yami won’t get too anxious and start Mind Crushing people."

Ryou cringed. "I don’t want to imagine the chaos he would bring," he stated. "Yami is honorable, but sometimes he can have a violent mind."

"Yeah." Yugi stared out the window. "It’s nearly sunset. I wonder if that raptor guy found Malik yet."

***

Malik was thoroughly pissed off. He was lost, muddy, and just about sick of misquitoes biting into his perfect tan skin. However, now it wasn’t so perfect anymore. He was covered in mud because just a few minutes before, he had tripped over a tree root and had fallen into a puddle of mud. And no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t seem to find a way to navigate himself to where Ryou and Yugi were.

"This has got to be the worst day of my entire life," he said out loud. "I cannot believe that I am lost on prehistoric earth with a bunch of humanoid robots who want to kill me. This is just not my day."

"It certainly isn’t," cackled a voice from behind him. A giant black widow spider leapt out of the bushes and transformed in a female robot. "The name’s Blackarachnia," she said. "I saw how you controlled ol’ grape face back there. That was pretty impressive. How would you like to work with me? We can overthrow Megatron together."

"And I would wanna do that because…?"

"Just think about it. Power like none you’ve ever had before."

He sighed and waved his hand absentmindedly. "Been there, done that," he replied in a bored tone. "Sorry babe, but I’m just not interested in working with a giant arachnid. No offense really, but I’m just not a spider person. Go bother someone else, like that Tarantulas or something."

Blackarachnia gritted her teeth. "Megatron was right for once in his life. You are an annoying little brat!" she spat. She pulled out her weapon.

"Yeah, but I’m a cute annoying little brat that happens to know how to send you to your death. So I wouldn’t be waving that crossbow around or I might use it against you."

She lowered it. "That’s better," Malik smirked.

"Bothering people again, spider?" hissed a new voice. All of a sudden, a Velociraptor emerged from the foliage and attacked Blackarachnia. She screamed and fell to the ground. Malik was astounded. Had this robot come to his rescue? No, that was stupid. No one else knew he was here. The raptor transformed into a tall robot and aimed a spinning sword at the she-spider. "I’d suggest you leave, female," he spat. "This human is coming with me."

"Says who?" Malik growled crossing his arms stubbornly over his chest. "Who says I wanna go with you, dino-boy?"

The new bot turned around. "I happen to know where your two friends are. They are at my base and perfectly safe," he said. "I was sent out to find you."

"Oh," was all the blonde Egyptian could say. "I-I guess I’ll come with you then. See ya later, widow," he waved to Blackarachnia who was on the ground with a battered arm.

He followed after the strange new bot who had yet to give him his name. "Hey you," Malik suddenly called after they had left the dense, steamy forest. "You never gave me your name."

"It’s Dinobot," he replied. "And yours is…?"

"Malik Ishtar. So you know my friends Ryou and Yugi, huh? Where’d you find them?"

"I found your friend Ryou on a wasteland and another comrade of mine found Yugi in a forest."

"Man, that sucks. I landed near a boiling lake of lava. Then this tarantula jumped me and tried to kill. This big red ant stopped him and brought me inside this base where I was confronted by this Barney look alike. I think his name was Megajerk or Mega baka yaro or something like that." He grinned wickedly. Dinobot wanted to make a note to never make this human grin again. He looked frightening when he did.

"Let’s just get back to base. I’m sure your friends are worried about you," the raptor-bot said turning around again.

"Fine," the strange lavender-colored eye boy replied.

***

"MALIK!!!" Ryou and Yugi cried when they saw their friend come up the main lift of the Axalon. Malik wasn’t used to being adorned in such a manner. Usually people were running AWAY in fear from him, not running UP to him to see if he was okay.

"Uh…guys," he said feeling a deep blush reach his cheeks. "People are watching…"

"Who cares?" Yugi said. "We’re just glad you’re okay. We thought you might have died and—"

"Yugi," Malik said sweetly, "shut up."

Yugi just smiled. Ryou patted his best friend’s back. "He’s right though. We were so worried about you," he added.

"Why? You didn’t think I could take care of myself?" Malik snarled.

"No, you misunderstand me. We know you are perfectly capable of taking care of yourself." He lowered his voice, "But we were worried if Ishtar would take over and start attacking random people."

"Oh. Oops, my mistake. I guess I can’t blame you guys for worrying about me."

"It’s okay," Yugi said with his eyes wide in happiness. "We’re just glad you didn’t die."

"Dat’s a nice reunion an’ all fellas, but ain’t ya gonna tell us about yerselves?" Rattrap interrupted.

"Rattrap," Cheetor said sternly.

"Hey, I was only askin’."

"I suppose we owe you all an explanation," Ryou answered. "Do you want to start, Yugi, or shall I?"

"I’ll start," the short boy replied. "Okay, this all started back when I was younger, eight years old to be precise. My grandfather was an archeologist and brought this Egyptian artifact home with him. It was contained in a gold box with weird inscriptions on it. It took me forever to put together the Puzzle, which is what I’m wearing now. It’s called the Millenium Puzzle. There are six other Millenium items." He looked at Malik and Ryou to see if it would be okay to tell them about the yamis within the items. They both seemed skeptical. What if the robots took it the wrong way? "Um…see, there are these ancient powers inside my item."

"Yeah? And…?" Rattrap pressed.

"And um…well, let me tell you about the popular game back in our time. See, there’s this really cool card game called Duel Monsters. Each card has attack and defense points. There are also magic and trap cards. You start off a traditional duel with 8000 life points. Whoever loses the points first, is the loser. Or whoever runs out of cards in his or her deck. Now, back in ancient Egypt, there was also a similar game being played. They called it the Shadow Games. Here comes the strange part. The thing is, is that I’m the reincarnation of a powerful pharaoh. He lives within my Millenium item. His name is Yami or Yu-Gi-Oh."

The robots stared at him wide-eyed. Ryou smiled faintly. "I’ll take over for now, Yugi," he said. "I received my Millenium Ring from my father a few years ago. He was shopping in a merchant bazaar when it caught his eye. He said he felt I was destined to have it. I was merely a classmate of Yugi’s when I first saw him. We met up on Duelist Kingdom, a large tournament for Duel Monster duelists. His friends and I all sat around a campfire and told each other our favorite Duel Monster cards. My Millenium Ring started to act up and a yami appeared, taking me over. His name is Bakura and he was a tomb robber and a stealer of souls back in ancient Egypt. He dueled Yugi to win back the souls of his friends. Yugi won, obviously, and sent my darker half to the Shadow Realm, a terrible, evil place. I became a close friend to Yugi shortly after that."

"Is your…um…darker half still here?" Cheetor wondered.

"Yes, I’m sorry to say. He doesn’t seem to want to leave me alone. I’m his host body and he needs me."

"Yeah, we all feel for Ryou," Malik said patting his back sympathetically. "Anyway, it’s my turn to tell the story now. I used to be a happy kid in Egypt, which was where I grew up with my older sister Ishizu and my adopted brother Rishid (author’s note: I cannot stand the stupid dub name they gave him! I mean, Odion? What kind of a name is that? Rishid sounds more Arabic. Anyway, sorry to interrupt the story. Read on!). My father was an abuser, you could say. When I was fairly young, ten I think, he used a burning hot stone to carve Egyptian hieroglyphics onto my back." Cheetor winced when he sat that. To there amazement, Malik slowly took off his shirt and turned around. "Do you seem them?" he asked in a monotone voice. "This is what my own father did to me. Of course I wasn’t exactly happy when he did this. I, too, owned a Millenium item at the time. But my item doesn’t contain the spirit of a yami. My anger resulted in Ishtar, an evil spirit that lives only to see the blood of others. He murdered my father in cold blood and very nearly killed Rishid and Ishizu. I was lucky enough to stop him. He also…um…what’s the word?" He looked at Ryou.

"He killed Bakura," Ryou finished softly. "But, somehow, Bakura came back. He had taken refuge in Yugi’s Millenium Puzzle, which was lucky for him I suppose."

"He k-killed him?" Cheetor stuttered. "I don’t ever wanna meet this guy."

"Then I would suggest never to piss me off," Malik said smirking.

These humans are very interesting, Dinobot thought to himself. They have power and knowledge of many things. Could it be that these ‘yamis’ are a part of them?

"Optimus-sama," Ryou started, "may we retire to our room?"

"Of course, Ryou."

Malik and Yugi walked after Ryou down the hall. "Those guys sure like to pry into your business, don’t they?" Malik growled.

"They’re nice," Yugi protested.

"Sure, to you they are. But to me, they seem very odd."

"Can you trust them this one time? Onegai?"

Malik sighed and rolled his eyes, "Fine, you spiky-haired baka."

Yugi smiled at him. "Arigato, Malik."

"Yeah, whatever."

"Guys, can you please keep it down?" Ryou moaned from his bed. "I’m trying to get some sleep here."

"Oh shut up, will you?" Malik snapped.

"Short temper, eh Malik-chan?"

"Humph. Okama…"

"Malik!" Yugi said irritably. "No swearing! I don’t care if these robots don’t understand Japanese, just don’t swear! Ever!"

"You are the oh baka I’ve ever met."

"Thank you for that compliment," he said sarcastically. "Just go to sleep. Tomorrow is a new day."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah…" Malik trailed off as he fell asleep. Ryou was already in dreamland. Yugi was slumped halfway off the bed and was drooling. Malik was hanging off the bed with his shirt half on. Dinobot peeked into their room and let a smile tug at his lips.

Looks like this human boys are finally asleep, he thought. I’ll have to watch out for Ryou and Malik though. Yugi seems too innocent to even hurt a fly. But the other two…there’s just something mysterious about them and I don’t like it. Hmm…I’ll run my theory by Optimus later.

***

"What do you plan to do to him, my Queen?" Inferno asked Megatron eagerly.

"Easy. I’m going to repay that little tanned brat for making a fool out of me!" the purple tyrant shouted angrily.

"Wise thinking, Megatron," Tarantulas cackled evilly. "But I’ve just one question: How do you plan to beat him when he can control minds with that Millenium Rod of his?"

Megatron would have paled if he were a human. "Well…that’s the only part of my plan that I forgot to add in," he mumbled sheepishly.

"Then I suggest you actually THINK up the plan first. Otherwise, you’ll end up looking like a fool again."

"Why are you helping me all of a sudden?"

"No reason. I just want to get back at that human delinquent as well."

Megatron eyed his suspiciously. "All right."

Tarantulas sneered. I’ll take that human prisoner and make him into my obedient slave, he thought sardonically. First I’ll need to take that silly Millenium Rod from him though and then I can control him…and all the other Predacons…hehehehahaha…

Ooh, a cliffhanger! Hope you liked the first chapter!
