And Then There Were Two

Part 1

Author’s note: This is the sequel to ‘Unexpected Visitors.’ I’m hoping this story will be a lot better than the last one. Once again, we have the same characters but this time in a totally different situation. The Marauders are all grown up. There is a traitor among them, but who is it? Can the Beast Warriors help them out or will they just stand aside and let someone who is innocent be blamed for something he didn’t do? Read on to find out! Also, the beginning isn’t for certain, it’s just my interpretation of what MIGHT have happened given my information. Anyway, enjoy!

The day was July 31, 1980. James Potter waited nervously in the waiting room at St. Mungo’s Hospital. He paced back and forth biting his lip.

"Prongs, if you don’t stop that, you’re gonna wear a hole in the floor," Sirius Black joked from a chair. "Take it easy. Lily’s only been in there a few minutes. Giving birth takes a while."

"I know, Padfoot. I’m just scared," James answered. "I love Lily so much."

"I’ve known that since our first year at Hogwarts. I don’t need you telling me again."

Suddenly, a loud shriek echoed around the room. "JAMES POTTER, I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!!"

"Sounds like Lily’s havin’ a grand old time, eh?" Sirius said grinning.

"The doctor said she would just start shouting out random death threats to me if she was pressured enough," James sighed.

"Sounds more like she’s planning your very own gruesome death."

"WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE, I’M GONNA HEX YOU UNTIL YOU BLEED! NO, I’LL THROW YOU INTO THE RIVER INSTEAD!"

"Scratch that. Now she’s threatening to give you a funeral," Sirius said.

"I know, I just wish she’d stop screaming. It’s giving me a headache," James grumbled rubbing his forehead. Suddenly, there was silence and then the crying of a baby could be heard. James and Sirius perked up and stared at the nurse walking forward.

"Mr. Potter, you can see your wife now," she said. James quickly stood back up and rushed to the room where Lily was. Lily was laying on the bed looking both tired and relieved.

"Sorry about all those threats, honey," she whispered. James noticed that small bundle in her arms. She followed his gaze and smiled. "It’s a boy," she told him.

"What should we name him?"

"I’ve always been partial to the name Harry."

"Harry it is then. Harry James Potter."

The two smiled happily at their son. Sirius’s head appeared behind the door and looked at them. "You can come in, Sirius," Lily said weakly. "I’d like you to meet Harry James Potter."

Sirius walked forward and looked down at the baby. "He’s so tiny," he muttered.

"Sirius, I’ve decided to name you Harry’s godfather," James said proudly.

"What? No, I couldn’t possibly—"

"Padfoot, it’s not like I’m asking you to jump in front of a rampaging hippogriff. If anything should happen to Lily or I, you will have complete authority of taking care of Harry yourself."

"All right," Sirius said glancing at the baby in Lily’s arms again.

"I also would like to say that you are our Secret-Keeper. With Voldemort lurking out there, we’ll need someone to protect us. Dumbledore mentioned a Fidilius Charm so that it would confuse him. He’d never even find us."

"I suppose," he answered. "I’ll see you guys later."

***

A year passed. Sirius was the Potters’ secret-keeper. He kept worrying that Voldemort would suddenly turn up and offer him a spot with his Death Eaters. He didn’t want to risk that. So he journeyed to James and Lily’s house.

"What do you mean, remove you from being secret-keeper?" James asked suspiciously.

"James, think about it. Voldemort is after you. He’ll go for the person closest to you and I don’t want to risk it. That’s why I think you should choose Peter instead of me as your secret-keeper."

"I…well, all right. I’ll give Peter a call. You’re sure you want to do this, Sirius?"

"Positive."

"Okay."

***

Peter Pettigrew smiled triumphantly to himself as he made his way to Riddle Mansion. He had just been asked by James Potter to be his secret-keeper. How foolish James was.

Peter stepped before a cloaked figure standing by the fire. "My Lord, it has happened," he muttered. "The Potters have made me their secret-keeper."

"Excellent, Wormtail," hissed a menacing voice. "The information you give me of their whereabouts had better be correct, or I will have to punish you."

Peter cringed slightly but remained stiff. "I know where they are, my Lord. They are at Godric's Hollow."

"You are sure of this?"

"Yes."

"Good. Soon, very soon, James Potter and his little imp of a son shall perish. Lord Voldemort will make sure of that…"

***

It was around 8:05 p.m. James was reading the Daily Prophet in the living room while Lily was preparing to put Harry to bed upstairs. There was suddenly a strange noise outside and James put down the paper. He gasped. Someone was in the house.

He quickly reached in his pocket for his wand and pointed it at the figure approaching him. "Lily, it’s him! Run! Take Harry and go!" James cried. "I’ll hold him off!"

"Foolish Potter," Voldemort muttered. "Avada Kedavra!" he bellowed. James was dead before he hit the floor.

Lily was rushing upstairs holding onto Harry tightly. She hoped James was all right. She heard footsteps on the stairs. It didn’t sound like James at all. That meant it was him.

Voldemort made his way to the top of the stairs. Lily quickly shut the nursery door but the Dark Lord broke it down. Lily stood in front of him. "Stand aside, you silly girl," he growled.

"No! Please, not Harry! I’ll do anything! Kill me instead!" Lily pleaded, shielding her son from Voldemort.

"I said stand aside!" he shouted.

"No! Kill me! Just don’t kill Harry!"

"Avada Kedavra!" he cried. There was a flash of green light and Lily fell to the floor just like her husband. Voldemort rounded on the crying baby. "Good bye, Harry Potter," he whispered and aimed his wand at the child. "Avada Kedavra!"

But what happened next was nothing what Voldemort had planned. Instead of the curse hitting Harry, it bounced off his forehead and hit Voldemort. The wizard felt his powers draining fast. "NOOOO!!" he bellowed and suddenly disappeared. Moments later, the house burned down.

***

Sirius was nervous. Peter wasn’t at his home, but there was no sign of a struggle. He rode on his flying motorcycle to Godric’s Hollow. When he arrived, a horrible sight met his eyes. His best friend’s house was burned to ground. He rummaged through debris looking for anyone.

He finally found something and turned it over. He gasped. It was James.

Sirius knelt down beside the dead body of James Potter and sobbed uncontrollably. He cradled his friend’s body close to him, letting his tears wet James’s blank, expressionless face. He finally stood up and found Lily under a pile of rubble as well. Sirius carefully picked up her body and placed it next to James.

"Now you’re both together for eternity," he whispered wiping away his tears. He then heard crying a little farther from where he had found Lily. He quickly ran to where he heard the noise. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Harry was underneath a huge piece of wood crying his eyes out. Sirius bent down and carefully dug out his godson.

He held the one-year-old in his arms. He saw blood dripping down Harry’s face and a strange-looking scar on his forehead shaped like a lightning bolt. He then heard footsteps and called out, "W-who’s there?"

"Sirius?" boomed a familiar voice. Rubeus Hagrid came into view looking startled to see him there. "What’re yeh doin’ here?"

"I found Lily and James. They’re dead, Hagrid. Little Harry managed to stay alive," Sirius replied sadly.

"Poor thing," Hagrid said looking at Harry. "Listen, I gotta take him teh Dumbledore."

"But I’m his godfather, I should take him. It was James’s wish."

"I’m sorry, Sirius, but Dumbledore sent me here teh bring Harry to him. Said he was gonna give him over teh the Dursleys."

"B-but those people are ruthless. Please Hagrid, there’s got to be a way."

Hagrid shook his enormous head. "Well, in that case, you can use my motorcycle," Sirius said handing Harry over to Hagrid carefully. "I won’t be needing it anymore."

"Thanks," Hagrid grunted and left with Harry on Sirius’s flying motorcycle.

Sirius suddenly clenched his fists and muttered with hatred, "Peter."

***

He had been running after the little traitor all day and had finally cornered him down a side street. "Give it up, Peter!" Sirius shouted. "I know it was you!"

Peter cowered before him, secretly taking out his wand. He suddenly cried out, "Lily and James, Sirius! How could you?!" But before Sirius could even blink, the whole street had been blown up. He cleared the smoke from his eyes and glanced around. He saw a finger on the ground and a gray rat scuttling into the sewers. There were dead and injured people everywhere and all Sirius did was start to laugh.

Once the Ministry of Magic arrived, he was still laughing and not even giving anyone a hard time. Peter had out-done him. Sirius Black was now being sent to Azkaban for a crime he didn’t commit.

***

Years later, Sirius had broken out of Azkaban in search of Peter Pettigrew. He had reunited with his godson, Harry. He was still hiding from the Ministry and was staying at Remus Lupin’s house. Harry just happened to be over there visiting them.

"So how’s your summer been, Harry?" Remus asked sitting at the table with some tea.

"Not so good. The Dursleys insist that I keep all my school things locked up in the cupboard or else they’ll chuck it in the trash," Harry sighed. Sirius walked into the kitchen looking very healthy. His hair was short again and his eyes showed more warmth than he usually did.

"Someday we’ll have to pay your relatives a little visit," Sirius said grinning like a wild man. Harry grinned back. Remus rolled his eyes.

"It’s so hard to keep you in line these days," he said. "One minute you’re stern, the next you’re acting like a complete idiot."

"Hey!"

Harry laughed. "So, do you guys have any stories you’d like to share today? Any about my father?" the fifteen-year-old added hopefully.

Remus and Sirius glanced at each other. "Go get it," Sirius said. Remus nodded and left the room.

"What’s he getting?" Harry asked.

"You know what a Time-Turner is, don’t you Harry?"

"Yeah."

"Well, when we were in our seventh year, we accidentally—"

"You mean you accidentally," Remus corrected walking back into the kitchen.

"Right. Anyway, I accidentally turned the Time-Turner and we went back about 4 million years into the past. We met some amazing people there and we’d like for you to meet them too. Moony, give me the Turner."

Remus handed it to him. "Okay, I’ll flip it on three," Sirius stated. "One…two…three!" He flipped the Time-Turner over and in a flash, the three were gone.

Rattrap was barely even awake at the scanners. It was pointless. Nothing ever showed up on the screen. The Predacons had been very inactive the past few days. No one knew why. It was at times like these that the transmetal missed his constant fights with Dinobot. He even missed those four humans that they had met a while ago, before the quantum surge that is.

Silverbolt and Blackarachnia were out on scout patrol, Cheetor was patrolling near the base, Optimus was somewhere helping Rhinox with something important, and Depth Charge was probably out looking for Rampage. Typical. Rattrap was stuck with the really boring jobs.

Suddenly, there was a strange reading on the scanners. "Computer, identify," the transmetal ordered.

"Unknown life form," it replied.

"Hmm, better call da Boss Monkey up." He opened up his comlink. "Yo, Boss Monkey!" he called.

~"What is it, Rattrap?"~ Optimus asked on the other side of the link.

"I got an unknown life form on da scanners. What should I do?"

~"Where is it located?"~

"Grid Zypher."

~"Hmm, I want you to bring Cheetor with you and investigate."~

"Okay. Rattrap out." He shut the link off, took the elevator to the ground, transformed into his vehicle mode, and drove off.

***

Sirius, Remus, and Harry landed on a deserted plain. "Where are we?" Harry asked fixing his glasses.

"We’ve gone back in time," Sirius announced proudly. "Hopefully our friends are still on the planet."

"Friends?"

Remus nodded and said, "As we told you before, we met some interesting people here. Keep a close lookout for them."

"What do they look like?"

"Well…it’s kinda hard to say," Sirius said.

Harry squinted his eyes and gasped. "I see something coming this way!" he cried. "It’s really big too."

Sirius and Remus turned. Their eyes widened. A strange sight met their eyes. There was some type of creature rolling along the ground and another one flying along beside it.

***

"Hey, RT, what’s that?" Cheetor called down to his companion.

Rattrap looked ahead and enhanced his vision. Three humans came into full view. And oddly enough, they looked very familiar. They pulled up in front of the humans who were gaping at them.

"R-Rattrap? Cheetor?" asked one of the humans with short black hair and brown eyes. He was probably in his thirties.

"Is dat you, Sirius?" Rattrap asked transforming into a transmetal robot. The man nodded and grinned as he saw both the their jaws drop. "Man, you guys grew up fast. Don’t tell me. This is Remus, right?" The man beside Sirius smiled and nodded his head. "James hasn’t changed a bit since we last saw him. Except for dat scar an’ the eyes."

"Um, excuse me, but I’m not James," said the boy with ruffled jet-black hair and glasses.

"Den who are you?"

"I’m his son, Harry Potter. Did you really know my dad?" Harry said hopefully.

"Yeah. He came here wit’ his friends a couple years back. So where is he? Didn’t wanna say hi?"

All three lowered their heads. Rattrap glanced at Cheetor uncertainly. "Was it somethin’ I said?" he asked.

"No, it wasn’t you," Remus stated. "James has been dead ever since Harry was a year old. He and Lily were murdered by a Dark wizard."

"Don’t tell me Peter was killed too."

"That little traitor? Ha, as if," snorted Sirius. "Peter betrayed Lily and James. He sold them to Voldemort after I suggested making Peter their secret-keeper."

"But why would he do that?" Cheetor asked.

"He said it was because Voldemort threatened him, which I think is a bunch of bull."

"Sirius!" Remus cried angrily. "I thought you wanted to teach Harry proper language instead of the usual swearing!"

"Sorry, it slipped. When you’ve been hiding from the Ministry for three years you tend to swear a lot."

"Why? What did you do?" Rattrap wondered.

"I didn’t do anything. Everyone assumes that I betrayed Lily and James, sold them to Voldemort, and killed Peter. Which I didn’t. I meant to, but he got away when I cornered him down a street. He yelled for the whole place to hear that I betrayed Lily and James and then he blew up the street and ran into the sewers as a rat."

"He had been my best friend Ron’s pet rat for a while," Harry added.

"He could a’ killed ya!" Rattrap said. "If I ever get my hands on his chubby little neck, I’ll do somethin’ nasty dat he’ll never forget."

"You won’t stand much chance against him now," Harry replied. "I saw Voldemort return last year to his body. Peter helped him. Let’s see if I remember the potion spell correctly. ‘Bone of the father, unknowingly given, you will renew your son! Flesh of the servant, willingly given, you will revive your master. Blood of the enemy, forcibly taken, you will resurrect your foe.’ Something like that."

"Bone of the father? Flesh of the servant? Blood of the enemy?" Cheetor repeated looking fearful. "Who was his father?"

"Tom Riddle," the three humans answered. "Everyone knows Voldemort hated his father for abandoning his mother and for being a Muggle," Sirius added.

"Oh. So, the servant was Peter. Who was the enemy?"

Harry looked at his hands. "I was. He cut my arm and took my blood to make Voldemort whole again."

"That’s sick."

"That’s not all. After Voldemort had risen, he replaced Peter’s stub of an arm with an exact metal replica. It’s very powerful."

"Great, just great," Rattrap commented sarcastically.

"So where’s Dinobot?" Sirius said looking around. "I thought he’d be with you."

"He uh…um…" Rattrap stuttered.

"Dinobot died a while ago," Cheetor explained. The pain was evident in his eyes as he said that. "He was trying to save the human race and he succeeded but in the end, it took his own life. We all miss him."

Sirius and Remus bowed their heads respectfully. Since Harry had no idea who they were talking about he gave them both a quizzical look. Sirius nudged him and made him bow his head too.

"So…how is everyone else?" Sirius said after their moment of silence.

"I guess you could say dey’re all right," Rattrap said heavily. "We got dese new bods a little while back and we also got a new crew member named Silverbolt."

"Oh. Well, uh, like we said earlier, this is Harry, my godson."

"They got the point, Padfoot," Remus said irritably.

Sirius turned and glared at him accusingly. "I know, Moony," he replied scathingly.

"Anyway, so what’s new with you guys?" Cheetor wondered.

"Besides the fact that I’m a wanted criminal?" Sirius said sarcastically. "Oh everything’s just peachy."

"I’m in my fifth year at Hogwarts," Harry stated proudly.

"What’s dat mean?" Rattrap asked.

"Uh…it means I’m fifteen and three years away from graduating from school."

"Oh, okay den. What about you, Remus?"

"I’m letting Sirius lie low at my place until the Ministry of Magic can catch Peter."

"Oh," Cheetor and Rattrap said in unison. "Well, why don’t you follow us back to da Axalon?" Rattrap suggested. "You guys look like ya had a rough day."

Harry, Remus, and Sirius all nodded and followed after the two robots.

***

Megatron was watching from the bushes. "Hmm, why would humans be here? They aren’t supposed to evolve for another million years," he said thoughtfully.

"Guess again," said a squeaky British voice from behind him. He turned around and his optics widened. There was a human standing there with a black cloak around himself. Megatron could tell he was balding and the thing that disturbed him the most was that this human was missing his entire fleshy right arm. In its place was a metal replica.

"Who are you?" the tyrant asked, trying to hide the surprise and fear in his voice.

"My nickname is Wormtail, but you may call me Peter. Peter Pettigrew."
