BLINDFOLDED

By: Rakshash

Your mind is as fuzzy
As the white stuffing
Bleeding out of soft toys
Left in the attic alone for years
Yet intricate
Like cobwebs
Glinting white in the sunshine
Strong, yet easily snapped
Ensnaring unsuspecting prey
Foolish enough to happen on it

I could get lost
In your labyrinths
Carefully contrived
So you can't see the Minotaur
Before it's too late

Is the subdued twinkle in your eyes
The promise of a splendid personality
Hidden from prying eyes,
Or a hint of insanity?

Your face can look so gentle,
Your smile so tender,
When you know someone's looking

You say all the right things
But hesitatingly
Like someone who's just learned
A new language,
And speaks it with an accent.

Tell me, in your castle
Surrounded by vines
Does there sleep a Sleeping Beauty
Awaiting her prince
Or the Beast in hiding
From strangers like him?

I wanted to remove your blindfold,
But your smile told me this way
It was easier on both of us.
