The Adventures of a Beast Wars fanatic

Chapter 1

By: D-Chan

It was yet another Thursday. Elizabeth Di Angelo hauled her heavy knapsack filled with schoolbooks to 1st period science-her favourite subject. Then again, she was the best at all subjects. Scrambling inside to her seat (far-right desk in the front row), she pulled out everything she needed and waited patiently for the lesson to begin. Janice Ramsey, the most popular girl in Adam Falls High, walked in and shoved Elizabeth's pencilcase onto the floor and stepped on it. "Oops, Sorry, Loser!" She giggled in her annoying high-pitched voice. Elizabeth growled and secretly gave her the finger from within the sleeves of her lime-green turtleneck sweater. She bent down to pick up her stuff, then put her stuff back on her desk. I wonder if Janice saw me giving her the birdie... She wondered. A voice echoed in her head.

"If I were a bettin' rodent, which I am--Oh, yeah."

"Aw, Rattrap..." She mumbled. She loved Beast Wars, and Rattrap was her favourite character, next to Dinobot. She was a great artist, and had drawn all the Maximals in permanent marker all over her bag.

The door opened, and the Principal, Mr. Walker, and a man with blackish brown hair and garnet eyes walked in. "Now, everyone, this is Mr. Peterson, who will be filling in for Mrs. Rogers. I hope you won't cause any trouble, or you're with me at recess. Good luck!" Mr. Walker said before he walked back to his office. Mr. Peterson smiled at all of them. "Well, from what I've heard, you're up to "Classification of Living things", am I right?" He asked. "Yes." Moaned the class. Elizabeth smiled and nodded. Mr. Peterson then explained everything he knew about the Monera (Bacteria) kingdom until the bell went. As everyone was filing out, Janice tripped Elizabeth over, causing all her books to fall out of her bag. Janice and her fellow populars laughed as they walked away. As Elizabeth scrambled to pick up her books before they could be stepped on, a hand picked up her journal and handed it to her. "Who do they think they are? They can't do that to anyone!" Elizabeth looked up. It was Mr. Peterson. She looked at the ground again. "Janice is the queen bee. She can get away with anything." She sighed, putting away the last of her books. Mr. Peterson sighed and helped Elizabeth up. "Elizabeth is it? I've heard that you're a model student!" He said as Elizabeth finally got to her feet. She nodded. "I'd better go. Thanks for your help!" Elizabeth called over her shoulder as she ran off to her favourite spot on the school football field.

As she sat in the circle of overgrown grass eating a slice of leftover pizza from last night's dinner, she couldn't help but think that Mr. Peterson reminded her of Optimus Primal. Sighing, she turned on her iPod and listened to Hinata's Theme from Naruto, one of her favourite anime shows. It helped her to relax. But still...She thought, taking another bite of the cold pizza. Could Mr. Peterson really be Optimus Primal in disguise?

Friday was even weirder than Elizabeth had expected. She had been hearing rumors that Jack Silver, the nicest guy in school, was going out with someone, and Janice was jealous. Good for him, then. Like he'd wanna go out with Janice, anyways. She thought, looking back to her sketchbook. She had drawn a picture of Blackarachnia and Silverbolt as a king and queen. They were so perfect for each other. As she put the finishing touches on her artwork, she closed her sketchbook and left the main quadrangle as the bell rang for 5th Period English. They were studying Shakespeare, and they were using a novel of her favourite Shakespearean play- Hamlet.

"To be or not to be--that is the question..." Began Elizabeth's English teacher, Mrs. Morgan. She was reciting the famous words from Hamlet, and for some reason, Elizabeth wasn't listening. She had skipped right past where she was supposed to be reading to Prince Hamlet's last words. She knew them all too well--

"Tell my tale to those who ask,

Tell it truly, the ill deeds along with the good,

and let me be judged accordingly.

The rest is silence..."

Dinobot had said those words as he lay dying after saving the primitive humans from Megatron and the Predacons. She had, for some reason, believed that it was Dinobot that showed humans how to fight ever since. "Miss Di Angelo, I believe this is the first time you've drifted off during Hamlet?" Asked Mrs. Morgan. Elizabeth went bright red as the entire class laughed at her. She immediately turned back to where she was supposed to be and read on while thinking of the things that the others would say.

I can't believe I did that! And while we were reading Hamlet, of all things! Elizabeth mentally scorned herself as she raced to 6th period science. Ambling through the door, she sat down in her seat, panting heavily. Mr. Peterson noticed this. "What were you running from? Predacons or something?" He asked. Elizabeth, as tired as she was, laughed. "Yeah. I just found out that Inferno's posing as my math teacher!" She said sarcastically. Just then, a beautiful girl at least 15 and Jack Silver walked up to Elizabeth and pointed to the seat beside her. "Is this spot taken?" The beautiful girl asked. Elizabeth, who was slowly turning red, nodded. "G-go ahead..." She said, turning away quickly. Jack Silver laughed. "You're Elizabeth, right? If I'd known you any better, you'd never share a table with the populars." Elizabeth growled. "Well, at least you don't attempt to break my legs, sprain my ankles, break my stuff and etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I'd let anyone sit at my table if they realized that nobody's perfect. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings. I just don't get why they hate that." The beautiful girl sat down beside Elizabeth and put an arm around her. "You got any friends to be with?" She asked. Elizabeth hung her head. "No."

"Anyone you can talk to?"

"Nope."

"Nobody to confide in?"

"Nope."

"Nobody who cares for you?"

"Nobody."

The beautiful girl hugged Elizabeth tight. "Then we'll be your friends." She said. Elizabeth felt something click inside her. Did she just say "friends"? "You would? Even with a loser like me?" Elizabeth asked enthusiastically. Jack nodded. "Nobody's a loser except for the people who call others just that." Elizabeth felt like she was going to cry. Jack Silver and his girlfriend...they want to be friends with me?! She thought. The beautiful girl smiled. "I'm Sabina. Sorry that I didn't introduce myself earlier..." Sabina eyed Nathalie's bag. "Beast Wars fan much?" She asked. Elizabeth felt like an idiot. Everyone teased her because she was interested in a show for little kids. She nodded guiltily. "Nothing wrong with that. Blackarachnia's always been my favourite." Said Sabina. "And mine Silverbolt." said Jack. Elizabeth blushed. "My favourite's...Dinobot..." She said, turning her bag so that Sabina and Jack could see the picture she had drawn of Dinobot on the front. After school was over, the three got on the bus, talking about the various times Waspinator was blown up, when Janice got on and fell forwards beside Elizabeth's seat. "What happened?" Asked the driver. Janice sneered. "Elizabeth Di Angelo tripped me!" She snapped, pointing at Elizabeth. Sabina was shocked. Jack scowled. "Liar!" He snapped. Elizabeth put a hand on her new friend's shoulder. "It's okay. I could use the exercise." She said. Elizabeth got up out of her seat, hauling her heavy bag over her shoulder, and got off the bus. Sabina leaned out the window. "I live three blocks away! I'll meet you there!" She called. Elizabeth nodded and started off down the road, barely paying attention. She began to laugh. "I have friends!" She sang as her slow gait turned into a merry skip. "Elizabeth Di Angelo has friends!!!"
